Dana White comes out and tells the 32 fighters that this year you have to fight your way onto the show and into the house. He said he was sick of the "******* and the posers" who have showed up in years past.

They had 48 hours before they would fight.

So for the next 2 hours, I enjoyed 16 fights. Winners got in, losers sent home.

Dana is probably kicking himself for not having thought of this sooner.

Anyone else catch it?

I've been watching too.
Liked the way he started this season. I wish that d-bag would learn to speak like a professional. I realize the nature of his sport and all, but you are the face of that sport so act like a professional. Not some friggin palooka who is tryiing to be tough in front of all those guys.

Anyway, that one guy that got knocked out was bad.
Especially after he talked about being from Serra's camp and how they are getting respect. Riiiiight.

Wow did anyone see that KO in the first fight last night? I've never seen a grown man moan like that before. I think he was knocked 15 years into the past...brutal!

Agreed. Ugliest KO I've seen in a very long time. Everyone was worried he was seriously hurt. When he woke up, he did not know if he was hurt in practice or a fight. As they were loading him into the ambulance, he still didn't know what happened.

I like Dana White. He's a smart guy. He bought UFC for something like $13 million and today it is worth upwards of $500 million. He is very media savvy when he is being interviewed by CNN, Fox et al.

definitely a good call making them fight to get in. Most of the fights were pretty good. And for a change, the coaches don't hate each other. Both are pretty funny.

Only drawback is there were almost too many fights. Didn't know who to root for, though a couple of those guys do look like tools.

And Dana, smart businessman, but him doing that "hang loose" hand gesture makes him look like a tool that's trying to act cool.

4/16 Episode Two

Coin toss between Coaches Rampage Jackson and Forrest Griffin.

Rampage wins the toss. He can elect to pick the first fighter or the matchups for the first fight. He said he wanted the first pick. Dana stressed to him the importance of controlling the fights and asked him if he wanted to change his mind. It is a big deal to control the fights from the get go.

Rampage says no, he wants first pick and I believe that was a dumb thing to do. Now Griffin can pick any of his fighters to fight any of Jackson's fighters until his fighter loses - then control goes to Jackson to pick fights.

The teams meet and one of Jackson's picks, Paul Bradley, has a herpes simplex breakout on his neck. TUF derm doctor diagnoses it and Dana has to toss him off the show. A real bummer for the fighter, but what are you gonna do?

Jackson can now pick any of the fighters who was eliminated from the first show to replace Herpes, and he selects Patrick Schultz, a suprise to most, including Dana, given the fighters he could have grabbed.

So far, Jackson does not appear to be doing the right things, but because I love him, I won't bust his balls. Way too early for that.

Griffin picks the first fight and he elects his fighter, Jesse Taylor to fight Mike "The Hobbit" Dolce from Team Rampage. It looks like a real mismatch in favor of Taylor.

Sure enough, Taylor and Dolce fight...and Dolce is mounted in more ways than a sheep at yell practice. He taps out from a rear naked in the second round.

Thoughts?

Rampage seems like a decent guy. He has a huge head though, which I guess is good if you're gonna absorb any hits, but makes for a bigger target.

I don't think this coaching thing is for him and I don't think he was paying attention during the prelims.

I was surprised Dolce got worked like that.
Taylor looked like he was just stronger than Dolce. Neither looked good in the ring.
Could be an interesting season, but I think Rampage will leave most of the coaching to his buddies. He is there for entertainment value.

4/23 Episode Three

Jesse Taylor is a retarded clown who can't open a beer bottle.

Rampage had a nice workout with his team and ended it by asking "CB" who he thought would be fighting next for his team. Schultz. He said that it was because they would fight our weaker fighters to keep the ball in his court by winning fights.

Rampage did seem to understand the importance of getting the ball in his court.

Team Griffins elects his Tim Credeur to fight Matt Riddle. Riddle is the guy who broke a fighters jaw to get into the house and he wants some of that? He says yes, because Riddle is overconfident.

Hard to argue he wouldn't be. Riddle was the first fighter picked by either coach. He's the top dog. And Team Griffin just called him out.

I love that.

But Credeur is pretty confident in wanting that fight. He's older and has more fights notched at 10-2. And you gotta know Riddle is wondering how Credeur found the French Cajun nerve.

Riddle was on his back in 15 seconds and in crontrol from the bottom. Credeur twisted out and they were back on their feet. Both fighters were aggressive and attacking to throw punches, kicks and body slams. Riddle was effective with up a dangerous upkick at the 2 minute mark that just missed ending the fight right then.

After some creative attempts at submissions from both fighters, Riddle got into trouble. Credeur had Riddle on his back and quickly mounted him. It was a quick move that Riddle would pay dearly for as he could not escape Credeur dropping bombs. Time was on his side. He was lucky to lose just the round and not the fight.

Round One was why I watch the show.

Riddle is bleeding in his corner. The other fighters are drinking this up and cheering wildly as the fighters sit for a minute. Credeur knows he was 10 seconds away from ending the fight and appears to be thinking of how he is going to do it again. Riddle's corner gets the nose bleed under control and moves to his right eye, which is open but starting to swell a little.

Neither fighter seems really tired, which can happen.

Round Two was even better. They are taking turns pounding on one another. I thought Riddle was done, then he stood up and strarting striking knockout power punches and kicks at a shaken Credeur. For as tired as you would think they might be, they are both just going at it.

The coaches are useless in their advice during this fight. When Riddle was on his back up against the fence getting bombs dropped on him, Rampage continues to just repeat "Get Up" a hundred times. Less than 30 seconds left in round two, a determined Credeur is hunting to anything to submit Riddle. And Forrest, his coach, is yelling "no, no, no". It boggles the mind.

Credeur didn't listen and grabbed Riddle into an arm bar with 10 seconds to spare. Riddle was in a tap or snap situation and chose to tap.

What a fight.

Thoughts?

just caught the replay last night and I have to say I was extremely impressed with Riddle. I thought his KO in the prelim round was kinda fluky and I though he would be extremely over confident coming into this fight. But he showed some real toughness after a difficult first round against a black belt jujitsu guy.

I agree on the coaches comment - both seemed extremely out of touch and aside from Rampage's initial directive for Riddle to get up after he was landing some good strikes standing up, I didn't get the impression that either fighter was well served by his corner.

Riddle seems lost in general.
The guy that won last week has some issues as well.
All the makings of a good season!

I think Riddles has a bright future. What a fight. I agree about the "man's strength" theory. Riddle will kick his *** in a couple of years.

well, rampage was right in asking him to get up coz Riddle was doing better standing up and did pretty much nothing after taking the guy to the ground. Having said that, a little help with how to get up would have been nice.

4/30 Episode Four

Team Forrest wins in a questionable third round. Rampage lives up to his name after the decision. He is 0-3 and is looking like Ken Shamrock.

It was a crappy fight. Dante was all ground and no pound. Both fighters were content to stand, clinch and exchange knees.

I'm hopeful that next weeks fight is more spirited. Dumbass puts lime juice in Matt Brown's dip. Matt Brown appears to be really really angry about it.

Lay and Pray at its finest

awful fight, but i watched it at 2x speed so it went quickly.
The decision could have gone either way, but it did look like Dante controlled more of the fight.
I hope next week's fight is better.
Like to see Matt Brown take out May.

Yeah, I'm hoping Matt Brown serves up some heavy handed revenge on the punk who messed with his dip.

For those who did not see the show, a younger punkier fighter who had been getting camera attention for writing **** on the ceilings decided to play a prank on a fighter who has been described as the one guy you would not want to play such a prank on.

The Punk, who is a self described, BAM which stands for Bad *** Mother ******, knows he bit off more than he can probably chew. Even as he was filling Matt Brown dip with lime juice, the fighter housemates were baffled by his actions.

They said the same thing. This is the last guy in the house you would want to attempt such a prank. Punk realized it when Matt Brown discovered the prank.

Punk was at a safe distance upstairs when Matt Brown told him that he was going to fight him in the next challenge if Team Griffin won this one and had the choice of fights next week.

Punk was visibly shaken at being called out and was probably praying that Team Rampage could win and postpone the inevitable *** kicking he has coming to him.

They didn't and the fight was announced. Everyone was happy that it actually materialized. I'm happy Dana White and Team Griffin honored the revenge fight and booked it.

At the weigh in, the shorter Matt Brown appeared ready to do exactly what another fighter predicted would happen. Punch holes in the Punk.

We'll see.

Ford should have finished that fight much earlier.
I don't understand guys that have full mount and can do nothing with it.

Has any fighter done less on this show in two fights than Dante?

The quality of fighters on this season is pretty weak.
