The theme of the OU game and season so far...

missed opportunities. We had several chances with about 8-10 minutes left to make or break the game effort and are just missing. A few bad shots from the wing and a few bad decisions made the difference when we were down by 4.

Same goes with the close loss to Notre Dame. Not that we are playing horribly, just not cluch when the game has been on the line. It is strange because we have had so many clutch players the last few years that I always had confidence we could pull out the close ones, but I don't see it this season.

Don't get me wrong I am happy with the success considering that this is kind of a rebuilding year for us, but we need the older guys to hit the late game shots. I was counting on Atchley to be that guy for us late in the game, but he hasn't found his groove yet.

Feel free to disagree but from what I have seen, it has been the late missed opportunities that have prevented us from two or three more wins.

I think that is very short-sighted. The problem with this team is not a few bad bounces or breaks here and there. They lack a true PG, they have one outside shooter (and if he is off then they have zero outside scoring), and Damion James is not a true 3. Those are three glaring problems that have got to be fixed. They can be fixed but the first thing the coaches have to do is acknowledge them and not say there have been a few bad bounces here and there.

This Texas team is not as good as some we've grown accustomed to but it's not a bad team. I don't think we see the 2nd weekend of March Madness.

When Barnes is having to sit his starters over and over to make a point about playing hard and smart, this team has more issues that only one PG that can shoot from outside.

Actually, I pointed out 3 areas of concern - all different, but somewhat interrelated. No true PG, no outside shooting, and James at the 3. Not sure how you got out of my post that all we need is a PG that can shoot from the outside.

Wasn't speaking to your post specifically, Buster. Just pointing out that we have some obvious issues with effort and smart play that are affecting the team. This is the second or third time this year I've heard Barnes calling out his starters.

Texas is just not that good and this team is not playing as a team yet. They still have time to gel and the timing might be right for a March Madness run. Our best players are in the NBA.

Is it just me or does this team miss more in-the-paint-right-by-the-bucket baskets than any other team in the history of college basketball? They just missed shot after shot in close tonight.

I do agree that this team just isnt as good as what we've come to expect....But I also don't think judging them by their performance at Oklahoma is adequete.

There are things that continually trouble me...namely that I don't see this team improving as a whole, just certain individuals getting better.

I don't know what has happened to Connor Atchley...I found myself yelling at him last night like we were back in his freshman year. I think him disappearing has really, really hurt this team. I also think the loss of Wangmene has been detrimental to the team this year.

This team seems to lack a continued focusness (to borrow from Bill). We've seen them fail to put away inferior teams and once again tonight we saw them fail to maintain momentum every single time when they closed the gap.

I said at the beginng of the year I saw this team going out in the second round of the tournament and at the moment I don't see any reason to change that prediction. Against Iowa State, as we once again failed to put a team away, I was thinking that this team is ripe for one of those shocking first round defeats that we've been able to avoid over the years.
