'The Road' Trailer

i already don't like it. unlike the ncfom which pretty much stuck to the book, this movie looks like it took liberties to change the story and manufacture drama. but then again, i always thought the road wouldn't translate well to movie because of how slow the book is. but that slowness is important overtone to the story. slowness doesn't translate well to movies.

I don't recall the book giving any indication of the source of the apocolypse, but the trailer seems to go there.

I am looking forward to this, but I am doubtful that they can capture the depth of emotion from father to son that made the book so compelling.

Read somewhere that the director said that the trailer has footage of the catastrophes that created the dead world, but that the film itself did not.

You can see the smoke from the twin towers on 911 shopped into one of the shots in the trailer. Nice.

A film exactly like the book would be a miserable experience. It would make Shindlers List look like light-hearted and campy.

Some things are easier to read and harder to watch IMO.

I just re-watched "All the Pretty Horses" on DVR tonight (saw it years ago). I watched it again b/c I just found out recently that Cormac McCarthy of "No Country..." wrote it.

I was surfing HF and saw this thread opened it b/c I had no idea what this was about. Literally a second later before reading this thread, I opened another tab and googled Cormac McCarthy to see what else he had written and saw "The Road". Creepy...

Looks like the bad zombies are illiterate white guys with southern accents. What a courageous and innovative twist.

Looks pretty good. Certainly the book did not focus on action very much. They did a good job avoiding it. When I read it I felt they were mostly alone and had very little interaction with anybody. The feeling of despair due to that prevailed.
