bows out.

“When I got a target in my sight, I don’t give up,” Perry said at The Beacon Drive-In in Spartanburg. “I’ve never quit a day in my life in the face of adversity, and I’m not just about to quit on the future of America. I’m going to stay in this race and stay in this fight.”

Guess he gave up on America's future after all.

The biggest change will be Ken Herman at the Austin Statesman having nothing else to write about.

Rick was never my favorite candidate. Matter of fact he would have been my forth choice. But what's sad is....and I know this isn't saying much, he would have been a better President than BHO. Of course I think most on this board would be a better President than BHO. The only ones that wouldn't are the ones that think Obama is the Messiah (there are a few that really believe this too .

I know a lot of my fellow Perry-bashers think this is good news. It's not. The longer he was in this race, the weaker he got and the worse he looked. By getting out now, there's plenty of time for him to rebuild his image back in Texas among stupid people. Furthermore, he'll go back to getting no real media scrutiny.

I wanted him to stay in the race at least long enough to see him lose in the Texas primary (which he very well might have). That would have been ideal.

I agree. It would be bad for him to lose the Texas primary. Smart move on his part to get out now. Of course who knows if he plans to run for gov. again in 2014.

When all is said and done I think history will record that America missed out on a good deal when Rick went down. And it was so unnecessary. The drugs he was taking as a result of some badly timed surgery were the main reason he looked so bad in the debates.

And all those shrooms he was eating didn't help a bit either. In fact, the shrooms may have been the main culprit. How else to explain the giddy way he acted at times? The unbelievablly stupid things he said all the time? I know, the other candidates are all equally stupid, but they are all consuming mass amounts of shrooms too.

Sarah Palin started something that is going to go on for as long as we can see. And it explains why she could see Russia from her back porch.

There’s no need to bring Sarah’s back porch into this — I hear she’s been eating better and working the treadmill so let’s try to be supportive.

I wonder if he is going to reimburse the state of Texas for his travels and security while he's been away on "state business". Money that could have been used in much better ways than to follow him around keeping him from stepping on his own...oh, yeah, it didn't keep him from that. I guess we are even. I'm just glad to finally be able to say "see, I told you he was an idiot" to the those around me who were continually praising him.

I saw Wisconsin is trying to recall their governor. Anybody think we should be trying to do the same with Perry? Look at how far our state is in terms of healthcare, education, and poverty. They can't seem to get the states budget right and are way over spending compared to what they are bringing in revenue. They are privatizing Medicare which will cost thousands of Texans their jobs in the next couple of years. This guy has done very little positive for our state IMO.
