The Quarry or the The Republic Golf Course?

I'm going to play one of these on Saturday and want someone's opinion who has played both.

The Republic, if for no other reason that when you get to the "Quarry" portion of the Quarry course, it is a heat box. No wind gets in there and it is hell on earth in the summer...

I haven't played The Republic, but have heard good things.

I have played The Quarry and I LOVE it. Immaculate condition and a great, unique layout. The front is linksy, which I like, but some people find boring. If that is you, you may prefer The Republic. What other courses do you like/dislike?

The quarry would be out in my opinion because of the heat. They are starting people on the back side to get as many through that natural microwave as possible before it really heats up. They also recently punched the greens. I played a little over a week ago and the greens were freshly punched and I doubt they would be in a condition that I would be able to justify their weekend rates to play.

Republic (I have not played there in a while) has been reported to be in great shape. Several friends played there two weeks ago and it was in tip top shape.

Both courses are great fun, and not particularly challenging. (I shoot high scores, but it is because I suck - not because they are really hard). I like republic because it is a little more open and I can let my driver rip (totally unecessary given the overall length of that course).

That is my opinion. Another thought - which I am not sure when you are planning on playing (time of day) is to play La Cantera right now. They have a discount going that allows two people to split one green fee and play. If you are willing to pay 60-75 dollars to play Republic or Quarry - you could play La Cantera (resort or palmer) for about that.

Dendox- thanks for the suggestions. I dropped my tee time at the Quarry and now my dad and I are playing the Palmer Course out at La Cantera. I'm excited, that's a heck of a deal. They did punch the greens recently, but the girl I talked to on the phone said they're coming back quick and the people that played yesterday had no complaints.

Hope you enjoy it out there. Not sure if you have ever played that course, but it is pretty tough. There are a ton of blind shots that really eat me up. Ball goes over the hill (slowly drifting right as always) and you get up top only to notice "there is no right on this hole." Lost ball drop 3 hit four - ugh.

But it is a great course and it is one of the most beautiful I have ever played. Enjoy. Also, if you have the time to venture off into the woods - you can come out with 100 dollars worth of pro v1 golf balls real easy.
