The Problem with the Mavs

They looked great with the starting lineup in the game tonight against Houston. Then, they decided to go with some reserves. Jerry Stackhouse might now be the worst player in the NBA. As soon as he got in the game the Rockets went on something like a 18-4 run....this is ridiculous

WTF....do not play that piece of garbage again this year....

Nah, Ill stick with my assessment of Stackhouse.....Though I dont love Dirk when he tends to puss out of some games by taking jump shots, his overall game is still amongst the elite 10-15 players in the game.

At the end of last year and tonight Ive noticed a general suckitude in everything that is Stackhouse. Tell me Antoine Wright is a little better than this as well....

I'll probably get castigated by other Mavs fans for this but, here it goes. Stack, at least as long as I have watched him on the Mavs, has never been a consistently good player. Don't get me wrong, he has an outstanding game every once in a while (and it's becoming a long while now) but even during the Finals run he would make the stupidest turnovers (e.g. dribbling the ball off his thigh several times) and he's more than willing to heave up shots when he's ice cold. Dallas fans love him but I never really undestood why considering he was pretty mediocre on the court most of the time.

Mavs lack leadership. Dirk can't do it... he's proven that over the last 10 years. Although one might think Kidd could be the leader, he seems more interested in biding his time and not getting hurt.

Rick was pretty successful at turning a team without a leader into a contender, but he did it by making a physical, team-first kind of squad. Mavs aren't going that route. Ever.

I agree on Stack. He looked dreadful last night. He is a scorer and that is it. If his shot is not falling, then he is worthless.

The Mavs biggest problem is the change in systems. They go from run and shoot with Nellie, to defense first under the little dictator Avery, and now a combo of offense/defense with Carlisle with a slight favor toward an up-tempo offensive style. They will have to adjust and adjust fast or else the West could pass them by.

Not sure why all the hate for the Mavs and Dirk. They have had a good run and Dirk has proven himself time and again. He has no control over the phantom fouls in the finals for Wade where basically all Wade has to do is get the ball thrown to him and he will either score or get a foul call. How do you defend against that? And what have the Rockets done lately? They look pretty good this year, but Artest will have a blow up and McGrady and Yao will get hurt (as usual). This is the Lakes conference this year and we are all just playing for second fiddle anyway (not that the Mavs will be anywhere near second, but you know what I mean).
