Should be a beautiful day outside of Baltimore and the infield should be crazy once again.

Win - Big Brown
Place - Giant Moon
Show - Gayego

I just hope Big Brown makes it safely around...his feet could go out at anytime and it scares the crap out of me. Just has to make it through today in good shape without too much bumping around.
Here's to a safe race and hopefully another dominant performance

I love animals and especially horses. We live up against a large field and the horses come up to the fence all of the time so we can feed them apples and such. It's always sad when a racing horse breaks down. But that being said, I love horse racing as do a great deal of other folks who love horses just as much as I do, and certainly as much as the folks at PETA. There's nothing unethical about horse racing and the people who own and train these horses care for them deeply and treat them very well.

There....I'm off my soapbox. Back to the OP's thread. As far as the Preakness, I would really love to see Big Brown dominate and go on to the Belmont and win there as well. It's been way too long for a Triple Crown winner.

I wonder if Big Brown Eyes was named after the Old 97s song "Big Brown Eyes".
Big brown eyes, and a gust of wind
,
And the cherry burns the corner of the page that says ";The end
Is coming soon,"; but not soon enough.
Restring all your guitars. Pack up all your stuff.

'Cause if Robert's dad is right,
We might not make it through the night,
And I'd hate to go alone.
Please pick up the phone.

Well a box of red, and a pill or three,
And I'm calling time and temperature just for some company.
I wish you were here. I wish I was too.
I'll drink myself to sleeplessness, I always do.

You don't want me anymore,
Since fame and fortune broke down our door.
You don't give me no respect.
What did I expect?

If that phone don't ring one more time,
I'm gonna lose what's left of my mind.
You made a big impression for a girl of your size,
Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.

Her hands are cold, her breath is warm,
She's a port in a storm.
I'm worried now, but it won't be long.
It takes a worried man, you know, to sing a worried song.

I've got issues, yeah.
Like I miss you, yeah.
And I wish I weren't so thick.
I'm making myself sick.

If that phone don't ring one more time,
I'm gonna lose what's left of my mind.
You made a big impression for a girl of your size,
Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.

Big Brown was actually named after UPS..... His original, now 25% owner owns a cargo/trucking business who has a large contract with UPS.

OK, so I haven't really been following the stuff this year being out of the country. I saw a headline that said "Big Brown Eyes Big..."

I thought that the horse's name was "Big Brown Eyes", not "Big Brown".

Oops.

I do know that a horse that came in second was put down at the track, but that's where it about finishes.

Nap,
No worries. I just happened to catch a few minutes on ESPN one day about the ownership of the horse.

That was impressive. Granted it was against a weak field, but that was about as relaxed as I've ever seen a horse. I love his demeanor before and after races too...he knows he's a badass!

Wonder who is going to enter the race at the Belmont and try to go up against him?

I am not going to say I am a huge horse racing guy, but I do watch the triple crown races every year and I cannot remember seeing a horse being pulled up for 3/4 of the race. The jokey ran a perfect race and the horse was amazing.

I think this horse may be the one. He didn't even have to work today, almost like a light stroll. I know everyone is going nuts over this japanese horse, Casino something, but he better be unbelievable or he will get destroyed too.

My God, what a horse. Not once on the whip. I have never seen a horse pull away on the final turn like this one did today and 2 weeks ago. It was as if he was toying with the others. Unreal.

The overhead video of Big Brown pulling away was absolutely incredible. What acceleration.

The Contender

And from a race in Japan

The Belmont could be epic if both Big Brown and Casino Drive are GREAT horses like Baffert was talking about. If they are both only really good, I could see them wearing each other out and an outsider spoiling both of the runs.

I think it comes down to two things, both against Big Brown. If a stablemate of Casino Drive (Spark Candle) is used as a rabbit, that could be a huge obstacle to overcome. And the second is post position. Big Brown looks like he loves being outside, if he gets boxed in, and if the jockeys work together as Baffert alluded to happening previously, there is no chance he wins.

I love Big Brown though. His demeanor, his style, his ease. I hope he can pull it out. I'll be pulling for him

Casino Drive looks good, but he will have to be much better than either of those races to stop BB.

Big Brown is the closest thing I have ever seen to Secretariat. I think he could have easily ran another lap after Saturday's race.

Amazing.
