I didn't want to jack the thread about cleaning up your dog on the hike and bike trail, but that conversation got me thinking about dog owners.
I love dogs but we, as a family are not ready to have one (too many little kids). When the time is right, I want my boys to grow up with a dog. But I've seen so many bad examples from dog owners. How many times have you seen:
Someone letting their dog crap anywhere (like Town Lake, your yard, etc.)
Dogs that run loose in the neighborhood, sometimes tearing stuff up
Neighbors with barking dogs outside all night
Dogs that bit or threaten (happened to us a bunch when we pushed our infant twins around our old neighborhood in a stroller)
Dogs kept in inappropriate environments (apartment balconies, tied up all the time, locked in filthy pens, etc.)
Mistreated animals that are under-cared for or used in dogfights.
I see clients in their homes quite often - how many times has their dog jumped up on me or even ruined my clothes?
I know there are a lot of good dog owners on this board. But I see so few good examples, that sometimes I wonder if properly caring a dog is even possible.
