I have heard a lot about this place but since i'm fairly new to the city i was wondering if anyone can tell me how to get there from South Austin.Greatly appreciated,Thanks

Been going to the Oasis since the early eighties. I can't believe their food is still so pathetic. Have they ever heard of Schwann's?

maybe one of the worst restaurants known to mankind. why can't you get a nice view and some good food, is that too much to ask for?

Actually, a friend of mine who is a cook just started working there last week and he said they have hired a new cooking staff.

I am sure they have gone through new cooks every couple of years, but maybe this time they will get it right?

The food isn't particularly good but I wouldn't say it's bad. "Nothing to write home about" is definitely the best way to put it.

I've heard about Iguana Grill but never been...what type of food do they have and how pricey is it?

They have "Lake Mex" -- it's mostly texmex fare (maybe some burgers), better than Rosies or the Texican, but nothing great. Prices were in the 7-15 range, IIRC. I think a couple of plates might've pushed 20, plates for two, or with a lot of fish or something.

I've been to Iguana Grill for lunch and dinner, and IMO lunch is better. But its just decent mexican food.

I was going to take a girl there next week, but since all I hear is about how bad the food is, where should I take the girl? I wanted a place with a nice view and place to have a good time.

The Oasis fits your requirements fine. Go on the weekend and you can listen to the band, dance, enjoy the view, and drink some fairly expensive drinks. Just eat nachos or something and then go get a late dinner afterwards.

Everytime something like this happens to a restaurant, I expect foul play. An inside job. Lightning hit it, right? I was gonna take my gf there this week. Oh well.

I think the Iguana Grill is just as bad as Oasis. I like the view better at Oasis as well.

not one of the decks, but the terrace next to the restaurant (where they'd have the bands and buffets)
