The Next LSU BBall coach

Living in Baton Rouge, I'm privy to all the rumors that go around as to who the next LSU head coach will be. The two names that have consistently floated to the top seem to be Tim Floyd and Anthony Grant. Now being a fan of Longhorn basketball my only concern with LSU basketball is how the next head coach would (if at all) affect the Horns. Tim Floyd is a great coach and great tactician, but I don't see how his style would lead to many recruiting battles between him and Barnes. He may occasionally attract Texas talent, but I don't believe it will be much of a problem for Barnes.

Anthony Grant on the other is a totally different story. As a former player and assistant to Billy Donovan his style has a chance to reignite the LSU fan base (John Brady did everthing he could to just about bury any remnants of a once avid fan base), and in turn attract recruits out of Texas, especially in the Houston area. This isn't necessarily a big issue as it seems as though, more and more Barnes is taking his recruiting to the National level. I'm not saying I'm worried, it's definitely something to keep an eye on. Word is that LSU administrators want to offer it to Grant, but he's supposedly has some apprehension with taking a job before the new Athletic Director is in place (I guess Berkman is retiring or something).

LSU could hire Coach K and I wouldnt be worried about Barnes ability to recruit Texas. The guy has now put us at an elite level in recruiting that few can match. That being said, I hope its Grant, because there is something about Floyd that makes me think hes a bit shady. Lil Romeo is probably praying that Floyd stays where he is.

I'm not sure who Berkman is, but Skip Bertman is retiring in June as AD.

I'm hoping Grant comes in and it sounds like LSU is pushing hard for him.
