The Mothman Prophecies

Watching it now on TNT and have seen some of it before but never the whole thing. For some reason i find this movie very creepy. Not really scary but very nail biting while watching it. Anybody seen it? Thoughts?

Also I heard something about some people who supposedly saw a mothman at the 9/11 attacks. Anyone heard of that?

I thought it was a good movie. My dad, growing up in West Virginia, remembers when that bridge fell. But I don't think he ever saw Mr. Moth.

I caught it on cable three years ago and thought it was good. Richard Gere has grown on me over the years and Laura Linney is great. Will Patton is solid in everything he does.

I liked it but I never use Chapstick anymore. I am now using Carmex. This movie may destroy an entire corporation of lip care products despite Suzy Chapstick's efforts in the past.

When he appears in the Motel room, via the reflection of the door mirror I jumped a bit. Supposedly there are sightings of Mothman all over the world. There are websites about it and to this day the reporter this movie was based on contends it happened. Interesting read that I am not sure I believe but he is resolute if nothing else.

I just think it's weird how people who have never met or talked to each other can describe the same exact abnormal occurrence. If it were just the typical "ghost" sighting, it wouldn't be anything conclusive, because those can be awfully similar as our brains have been conditioned to the idea of ghosts since we were little. But since the "mothman" is such a specific and unique creature, it seems like more than a coincidence. And I'm referring to the time when these stories originated, before mothmen myths were widely known and you couldn't read about them on the internet. I've never been a big believer in ghosts and such, but this is kind of creepy to think about.

To further that, there are stories from parts of the world that to this day don't have the internet by people who have never used a computer. Their descriptions are exact. That, is weird.

I really think that is why this movie was genuinely scary. I saw a TV show about it and it was very strange to see all these people who have never met and from different places describe in such detail almost the exact same event. Creepy

Those obviously aren't intended to be exact facsimiles of what people saw. They are replicas whose final appearance is up to the artist's/creator's interpretation.

If you gave the same exact description from a single witness to 10 different artists and told them to sketch it, you'd get 10 different drawings.

I like movies about science fiction monsters and stuff, but as far as actually believing something like this, that is another matter.
Plenty of people believe they see chupacabras, bigfoots, yetis, boggy creek monsters, who knows what else. I can't buy into it.
