The most boring day of the year

is the day after the All-Star Game. And to make it worse, we Rangers fans have to endure an idle Thursday to go with it. Thank God the AAA All-Star Game and Bull Durham were on TV tonight. I needed a baseball fix.

^Me, too, Texanne - and I did watch Bull Durham (for about the twentieth time!). But Thursday is not a total loss - even if the Rangers are off, today is the first day of the British Open, so we can get a golf fix to hold us over until the next baseball fix.

My wife had been bugging me for a month to get away from baseball for a change and take her out for a night.

I said, how about the 16th?

Bruce Robinson, free concert at Scholz's, so it was a pretty good night even without baseball.

For some of us, any golf tournament without Tiger (will he win? will he lose? if he wins, why? if he loses, why? does anyone givE a ****?) is a thing of beauty.

As for the day after the All-Star game, we now are bombarded with the droppings of the lifestyles of baseball players turned rock star - as in who did and did not attend A-Rod's party vs. who did or did not attend Derek Jeter's party vs. blah blah blah. Seems to me if they can play and home game and an away game one right after they other they can get right back to it after the All-Star game. I'm with Texanne on this one. GIve us some baseball, not who baseball players are or are not doing with their balls.

Not having Tiger in the tourney for me, is the difference between watching all of Saturday and Sunday, and just checking the results on the 11pm Sportscenter Sunday night.

P/C, I think it's because in Oct. the NHL and NBA are playing pre-season games and thus there's those games happening every day. With the proliferation of televised sports, obviously the Mon/Wed of Baseball All-Star week aren't as barren as they used to be.
