Can someone recommend software that can mix MP3 songs (including Itunes songs)? I am anovice and don't anything too complicated or expensive, I just want to be able to mix and sample songs for a project I am working on. I bet this would be easy on a MAC, but my old PC keeps ticking (on XP) so that's what I have.

Are you talking about using the tracks as they are or wanting to beatmatch/blend them? Any basic audio software can 'mix' songs, such as Audacity or AcidDJ.

Matching the beats would be nice, but not necessary. I probably can't do it anyway, so I just want to mix them as is. I'll check out your recommendations.

Beatmatching would require a bit more time, advanced software, and skill. Any basic audio software that can multi-track should be able to let you overlay tracks then fade-in/out to your liking.

Depending on what you are willing to spend, there are mixers for mp3 players. In fact, some cd mixers play mp3's. Mine do.

Take the easy or novice method of counting out bpm's in a song, write it down. Figure out how much to pitch it up or down and the beatmix is a bit easier. You will still trainwreck it a bit but most won't notice or know what that is.

Is your project for DJ 131 taught by Mark Farina?
