The Masters

I love playing golf but I find it hard to watch it on TV most of the time. However, I'm always riveted to the Masters. I always have been.

It's shaping up to be a great weekend. Tiger is tied for 19th but he'a only 7 shots back and there a lot of big names between him and the top.

I did see where Anthony Kim had 11 birdies to shoot a 65 yesterday. ****. He's my darkhorse for this. If he wouldn't had the 75 on Day 1, he'd be in the lead.

Mickleson also pulled it out of his *** yesterday on the back nine.

76, it was +3 I think.

DeadHorse is also correct that AK would have been my darkhorse as well. Too bad he had the 75 on Thursday. As it is, he may still have a shot if he can continue his momentum.

The only knock against him is he attended

the cut was +1.

and Tiger double bogeys the 1st hole to drop to even par for the tourney. bye bye Tiger. him bogeying the 18th hole yesterday did him in imo.

The cut was +1 and at about the turn yesterday, Mickleson was flirting with missing it. He really picked it up on the back nine, though. He seems to be doing well today, also.

The Euro that crouches down like Spiderman also seems to be doing well. Maybe he'll be in the final pairing tomorrow with the Japanese guy with the gay looking cowboy hats. That would be cool.

It's shaping up to be an interesting final round tomorrow. Kenny's lead is razor thin, and it looks like anyone within five shots has a very reasonable chance to win by posting a below-par round. This is exactly what we want to see - a tournament that has lots of suspense going to the last couple of holes. It matters not that Woods is not in the lead - there is still a good show awaiting us.

Agreed. It will be especially interesting if Perry and Cabrera stumble and fall back to the pack. Then, any number of people could win.

It's far from over and it's Sunday at the Masters.

Tiger won't win but I expect him to make a run to get him in the top 5. He has putted really bad this week and has sprayed a few drives. When Tiger only has 2 of the 4 phases going he can sometimes be in contention but not this week. He usually required 3 of the 4 phases to be on. He has 12 birdies in his 3 rounds but has given 8 shots back to the field. Had he been able to hold onto to even 3 or 4 of those he would have a shot. Just too many mistakes this week.

But man what an accomplishment for the guy to come back from ACL and MCL surgery in less than 9 months and then go on to win a tournament and finish possibly top 10 at a major. He is still working his way back.

Wow Phil is absolutely killing it. 3 birdies in 1st 5 holes which included a very makeable one he missed on 4. Tiger on the other hand has only hit 1 fairway and has had to make 2 tough par putts on the last 2 holes just to say at 1 under for the day.

Leaders are on 1 now.

Phil birdied #6 to get to 8 under (3 back)....then just now he hit a draw from a horrible lie to about 1 foot which will be a certain birdie upcoming. When he makes that he'll be 2 back and 5 under today (thru 7 holes).

Now that Phil is close let's see if his mental games holds up.

Phil hit hit into the bunker and that looks like a really tough bunker shot. He will be have to hit an amazing shot to save par.

Leaders are at 11 under.

Phil comes away with par and finishes the front 9 at 6 under par for a score of 30....ties the all-time Masters record for the front 9. Of course I am pretty sure the previous 6 under front 9 wasn't in the final round.

Woods finishes front 9 at 3 under par and is at 7 under for the tournament (4 back).

Tiger and Phil par 10 and 11. Not bad. If you go 1 under thru 10-12 then you are in good shape.

I will predict that when the leaders get to 10 and 11 they go at least 1 over par.

Par for Tiger on 12. Phil with double bogey on 12.

Phil now at -8 and Tiger holds at -7.

Leaders are about to enter the tough 4 hole stretch from 9-12.

Tiger with a great tee shot at 13 will have an interesting decision of either to go for the hole and eagle opportunity or play it a bit safe and get the easy birdie. With the leaders likely to give back a shot or two in the next few holes it could be real close real soon.

Tiger and Phil both miss eagle birdie putts on 15 but come away with birdies. Tiger now at -9 and Phil at -10 with Leaders on toughest holes.

Tiger just nailed a tee shot on par 3 16th. Looks like another birdie there for Tiger if he wants it.

Campbill is falling apart on the corner which isn't suprising b/c he has gotten his shots on the front 9 this entire tournament. Perry is the guy I have thought would be the guy to chase down. Perry currently leads by 1 but I think he falls back now and we have a 3 way tie at 10 under very soon.

Tiger and Phil fall back a bit at the end. I think they just both ran out of gas. What a duel that was to watch.

In the end I think it didn't matter much as it will be the duel between Perry and Campbell that decides it. Who knows maybe Cabrera wins it.

Kind of like watching 2 finals. The one between Woods/Mickelson. And the one that actually decides this thing.

Great, great day of golf. Tiger and Phil were amazing. The energy was to notch and they both had their A game until the end.

I was kind of pulling for Perry but I kind of like Caberra. I like how he just walks up to the ball and swings away. He's the fastest PGA player I've ever seen.

Congrats to Cabrera. That's the guy I wanted to win it. I've liked watching him play for quite some time now. Glad he's got his Green Jacket.

Quite simply, that had to be one of the best final rounds to a Masters ever.

My heart breaks for Perry.

Great day of exciting golf. I really enjoyed watching litreally every single minute of it.

Just shows you how hard it is to win a major. It can come down to one hole or one shot that defines your career. Sure Perry has had a nice career and will do well on the senior tour in a year or so, but Masters champion he will never be know as. God bless him.

It seems hard to believe the guy that won a 3 man playoff was the same guy whose tee shot was firmly behind a tree on 18.

Also, I forget sometimes how good Mickelson is. He's either on or off and he's off a lot. When he's on, though, he could be the best in the world. On Friday, he was flirting with missing the cut and on Sunday, he shoots a 30 on the front.

That was a very interesting final round, and it kept our attention throughout. Phil could have posted a 65 with a couple of putts that could have gone in; then it would have been really interesting. Got to feel a bit for Perry - a two-stroke lead with two holes to go, and he can't hold it. Got to feel for Chad - a decent iron onto the green on 18 and he could have won. But you've got to had it to Angel - he hung tough and came through when it mattered. This was a terrific Masters.

I thought it was good. But honestly it seemed at the end that everyone was screwing up when there was no reason to screw up. The wind wasn't that bad and the weather was great. The course was playing the same as it had all weekend. I kept wondering if anybody actually wanted to win this thing. In the end it was Cabrera who had something like 3 birdies over final 5 holes just to get into the playoff. But we don't think about his great comeback. We think about Perry choking away the lead over the final 2 holes and we think of what might have been for Mickelson had he not choked. I don't know about great masters final round but it was entertaining to watch.
