1/12 Update...
Mario Edwards Sr. will visit Florida State this weekend and LSU on January 20th weekend. Mack Brown still has his in-house visit as does Jimbo Fisher and Les Miles are something to really watch as this recruitment enters the home stretch.

The Edwards' will know sometime next week when the head coaches will be making their in home visits... even thought ME, jr. still remains 'committed' to Free Shoes U., this too will go down to the NSD wire with Texas & LSU in the middle of it. More to come as it unfolds...

I still think he will sign with FSU in the end... but I am hopeful the current UT recruits are still in his ear and that Mack somehow pulls off some last minute miracle to get the kid.

when was the last time mack pulled off a last minute commitment/signing with a 5 star recruit? with cory redding, simms, vince, j. gray, m. brown, etc, it seems like it was decided well in advance. i'm also less hopefully for either DGB or M. edwards.

good call with jackson jeffcoat and hicks committing later in the "game." They were still a few days before actual signing day, but it's the same idea.

i'm not sure about m. edwards at DE either. he's just huge. maybe he'll grow into a DT. either way, he will be too good to keep on the bench for long.

For those that subscribe to Hookem.com, you already knew this from comments he made after his visit to Ou in the middle of December... but he now makes it official!

Actually IdahoanHorn, Hicks & Jeffcoat announced about 10 days or so (maybe 2 weeks) before NSD at their respective schools! But Edwards & DGB will probably go down to the wire... should be interesting to see how it unfolds for both.

Worster, I agree with you... when you have a coach/dad, you tend to follow in his footsteps and I too see him signing with Free Shoes U. I have read that he does stay in touch with Texas commits he knows and the ones from the UA game in FLA last week. He also met with the coaches from FSU after the game, so take that for what it's worth... This weekend he's in Tallahassee & next week it's Baton Rouge. 19 days is a LOT of time!

Fox News in Austin, just reported that Edwards was now only considering LSU and Florida State.
