The Last Obstacle to Pasadena

We have nearly reached our final destination. Pasadena is in our crosshairs. We’re so close we can almost smell the roses. But, our journey to the Rose Bowl is not complete. We still have one obstacle standing between ourselves and Pasadena: the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the Big 12 Conference Championship. This is the top priority: beat Nebraska, conquer the Big 12, and punch our ticket to Pasadena.

Now, I can’t say I really have much against Nebraska. They have nice fans, they play hard, and they’re good sports. However, that’s not how I feel now. Right now, Nebraska is in our way. They are in our way of the National Championship Game. And that doesn’t sit well with me. I want to beat the hell out of Nebraska, plain and simple. These are the games we live for. The games we dream about every night. The games we fight our hardest to get to and to win. I intend to work harder than everyone else in that stadium to succeed, and I hope all of you share that same mentality. There is no excuse for giving any less than one hundred percent in this game. No excuse whatsoever. That goes for everyone wearing burnt orange in Cowboys Stadium on Saturday night—players, coaches, fans, cheerleaders, and band members alike; we must all give our all. I don’t care if you’re tired or you’re hungry or you want to socialize with the person sitting next to you or you want to gawk at the giant video board hanging over the field. I’ll say it again—these are the games we live for. Let’s live life to the fullest and raise the Big 12 Championship high.

Let’s get to Pasadena.

Hook ‘em Horns.

Well said.

Colt and Co. have been preparing for this since they starting playing ball.

Amen.

Corn feels they owe us big time. It ain't happening.

As I sit here and watch the 2005 B12 CCG replay I realize how great that team was. At the same time I realize that was so 2005...

This program has progressed so much in 4 years, and albeit, it didn't have far to go, not much room for improvement, but I'll be damed if they didn't do it.

This program, this coaching staff, this group of players... are so much further ahead than 2005, it's amazing.

Remember hoping something weird would happen and we'd win?? How's it feel to EXPECT to win?

I've been watching Texas football for 4 decades. Never, NEVER has it been this good.

Enjoy it. Live for the moment. Don't make the mistake of taking it for granted.

Hook 'em!!

I attended my first Texas-OU game at age 14 in 1968. We scored with 39 seconds left to win the game. Ten months later I watched my Mother bury her first born son who came home in a box from Viet Nam.

I learned a long long time ago to never take anything for granted.

Tell your kids you love them. Offer to help an elderly neighbor. Let some one in in traffic. Don't confuse a football game with something that is a "must win".

World War II was a "must win".

Now show them that this past 12 years of domination has been no fluke. We're Texas. Creamed Corn is on the menu.

Damn that fires me up GG!!! .... your 100% right - 75% of the fans at that game will be burnt orange clad - we need 'em all focused and hollering and cheering for the Horns the whole game.

NOTHING BUT COMPLETE AND TOTAL VICTORY - ON TO PASADENA
