'The Killer'

So, my fatass brother calls me up around lunchtime and wants to go eat. Since it's such a nice day outside, I thought we should go to Shady Grove. He was down with that. On the way there, he told me he read an article in today's Statesman about a place that serves a sandwhich called "The Killer". After he described it to me, I pulled an immediate u-turn on Barton Springs and headed there as fast as possible.

Now, let me tell you about "The Killer". It's served at a restaurant called Southside Smokehouse & Grill. It's located on S. 1st Street, just south of William Cannon. "The Killer" is a 2/3 lb burger, cooked in bacon fat, served w/ 3 slices of cheese, 3 HUGE bacon strips, and about a liter of mayonnaise. Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price $5.50. If you can eat two of them, it's free. A little run down on the nutritional aspects of "The Killer":

Calories: 1700
Sat. Fat: 52g
Visit to your cardiologist: Guaranteed

Just for the sake of comparison, a Double Whopper contains 25 grams of fat and 1020 calories. This thing makes a Double Whopper look like a white castle burger.

Now, for my take on said cow killer sandwhich. I thought it was pretty good. I wish they would not have cooked the meat as much, but pretty good nonetheless. I'll probably go there a few weeks after my angioplasty tomorrow.

Here is the_link to the Statesman article.

I know Fudd's has got one, but Fudd's sucks the corn out of my ****, especially since they changed the decor in there a few years ago. Also, the Fudd pounder comes nowhere near this one in terms of caloric intake.

JC's in Plano. They have 1/2 pound burgers, but he makes one with 3 of those patties on it. Yeah, that's right, a 1.5 pound burger. If you can eat it all, you get your picture posted on the cork board. Funny thing, there's 2 pictures of some kid, prolly 15 about 145 pounds. Caption on one, 2nd burger, same sitting. Also, it's a damn tasty burger.

Ball's, the hamburger joint next to Jack's in Highland Park makes a pound burger. Always go to Jack's.

Earl Campbell's used to serve fried ribs. Weren't that good.
