The Jayhawks began their unlimited summer practices last week

“This gives us unlimited access to them,” Self said last week, discussing the summer schedule in the days before his players reported back to campus. “We’ll be able to practice for approximately three weeks and play 11 games."

Article says they'll practice 5 days a week for 3 weeks and play 11 games. So that's a minimum of 15 practices and 11 games. Yeah I'd say that's an unfair advantage, especially with the games.

The worst part is other teams can't simulate the vast benefits of live game experience when they are allowed to practice. I'm surprised no other coaches are complaining. Can't imagine how much it would help if Texas football got an extra 3 weeks and scrimmages to prepare for the Fall.

I wouldn't say that giving Texas, or any other school "a turn" would eliminate the problem. The problem is that it creates an unfair advantage. The only way to eliminate that is to either give every single school the opportunity to at least have the additional practices or no school at all.

My problem isn't that its KU who's getting this opportunity, my problem is that it is happening period.

This is no different than if TCU baseball were allowed several extra practices and a bunch of international games during the Fall. I'd imagine Big 12 baseball coaches would be up in arms about special treatment and unfair advantages.

Shaping and refining the lineup in live games before the season starts is a guaranteed advantage, much less through extra practice. Bottom line is there is no justifying KU won't have a head start in several areas above other programs. No amount of practice can simulate the advantages of live competition.

I think it's going to be a huge advantage for Kansas going forward, and if they win the national championship next season the real complaining will begin. The solution is simple - go back to the old system of fielding an all-star team that represents a variety of schools.

That's more than a huge advantage....that's way over-the-top!!!
It positions them to be in mid-season form for the beginning of the Big XII schedule.....My Gawd!!!!
