The hat's about to land in the ring

Maybe they could hold a lottery and a fan could coach the team one year.

I don't want to be HC, but I have been saying for 20 years I will come down and teach run blocking FOR FREE. It's not that hard. Same deal for tackling.

Like most of the mainstays on HF I am hesitatingly, reluctantly prepared to temporarily sell my sole. (And yes, I am
ashamed to admit that I actually said that.) This thing must get turned around and while I am not certain that UM is the only option, I will concede that indeed he might be the best option.

It didn’t have to be this way. Strong was a good man but a terrible choice for HC. The job was way to big for him.

We all misjudged Herman but there were warning signs...about his character. His arrogance, inability to prepare a team and his complete inability to manage a game is almost not believable.

I don’t believe that Meyer is the only answer but he might be the surest bet. I personally would love to lure someone like John Harbaugh to Texas. I also believe that there are probably one or two younger, less visible options that should probably be in the discussion.

What seems almost indisputable is that Herman is not the guy, and that he has alienated Longhorn Nation to a point that the relationship cannot be repaired.
Sure it could, Duke.
All he has to do is win.
But, that's the prob..........

Not for me. He can go undefeated, which of course is absurd to even think about with his craptastic coaching ability. I won't support him.

Edit: And I don't ever disagree with you except on this.
Lol....I was shocked when I saw that X.
Nah...I get it. He has made it hard to like him. I just know you can get away with waaay more with fans when you're a winner.

My comment was that the issues are magnified by Herman’s inability to hire better assistants the first time. See also his best friend from college who rejected Herman’s offer to be DC.

I posted multiple times that Aranda’s refusal caused me angst and asked if anyone knew why.
1) He knew LSU was loaded;
2) He wanted to be a head coach (now at Baylor)

Zucker,

I choose to think it’s because he knew what we did not - Herman wasn’t up to the task and wouldn’t last.

I could be wrong but really think TH has Texas on the brink of excellence, was just a big hill to climb out of that dark hole that Mack & Charlie left him with. Yes, Mack had 8-9 win seasons but we were starting to lose to Baylor. Charlie put us way down. Last year sucked with injuries. Just would like to see a full cupboard of above average talent and see what happens. That's be in 2021...

I wish I shared your optimism, but after Herman's behavior this year, I shall never support the guy. I don't even want to ever be in the same room with him, unless it's the press conference for his being fired.

There is nothing about Tom Herman that is The University of Texas, it's traditions. history or goals.

Zuck, those who choose to support him will always believe that he is (or was) just on the brink. Mack wasn’t, and Charlie certainly wasn’t.

There will always be excuses. And indeed he may turn it around. But for me I just don’t care. At least Charlie was a nice guy, and at least Mack had a track record.

Everyone has to decide who and what they are. TH had a choice to make on the whole social protest and he chose to drink the dirty water. That probably did not sit well with the big money donors as defecating in your own bed is never going to sit well. All these athletes get exceptional treatment or its certainly there if they want it. It paves the future for them if they reach out and take it. If they choose to play the "im a victim", that path goes away. Probably some of you will not like my post but thats the beauty of a free country. Everyone gets an opinion. Most seem to not like TH position on issues and certainly not his teams performance so far.

I believe in TH but if losing him means we get Urban Meyer then I would approve (not like anyone's asking me I mean I don't give a dime to the foundation but just saying)

I believe in what another poster put on here long ago (last season actually) nothing good ever comes from a Sooner win. Plus I’d not root against the Horns, just not going to happen. Well maybe if somehow my wife or kids lives depended on it, but I’d be pissed as h***.

Well said. Isn't it ironic that the snowflakes on the team, acting out over something about which they had little or no facts and carrying it a step forward to include phony suggested danger to them in their pampered UT scholarship lives, were cause for TH painting himself into a corner and endangering his career? They will be long gone when Tom's antics, in their behalf, cost him and his family one of the premier coaching jobs in the county. He made a bad year of coaching intolerable to the fans.

Enjoy the rest of your lives snowflakes. Perhaps the tables will turn on you some day.
