Can you let go of your mundane existance and touch the face of god? Can you let go your normal existance and realize that there is beauty in the world that is inexplicable?

Can you hear a series of sounds that make you laugh, make you cry, make you feel small?

Can you hear something that makes you feel part of something bigger than whatever it is you are doing here, now, tomorrow.

Eric Johnson. I've never seen it live but I will - you can count on that.

Have you cried like a baby as a grown man? I did when vince ran it in - I know that when I see it this the flesh I will again.

I can play it on GH3 medium 5 stars - hard 4 stars - but someday I will rock it on expert - sure it won't be 10% of the real thing but I will be a part of it.

I roccked it on my ipod the last half mile of the NYC marathon.

The Eric Johnson clip I watched was, in fact, fabulous. Thanks!

I saw Stanley Jordan in Austin last year or so. Didn't know much about him beforehand, and was very, VERY impressed. He just comes out and plays, never introduces himself until he's been playing about 20 minutes. Got to chat afterwards with him. He tunes all 4ths between strings. Also, I asked how similar each song was when he played it versus highly improvised. He said he played mainly by feel, and he said, "you know that first song I played (and I did remember it), I just made that up on the spot." Very humble, not self centered. Just amazing.

The kid playing it on piano is very cool, too.
As is the violin one that came on next.

Goes to show that the song itself is brilliant, not just the performance by Eric Johnson.

(Haven't seen all the clips yet, so may have to post more.)

Not to be a dick (this means I'm about to be a dick) but playing anything on Guitar Hero or any other video game in no way, shape or form makes you any part of anything a real muscian does in real life.

I like it and think it's pretty cool that you listened to this at the end of the NYC marathon. Kind of gives me goosebumps thinking about it as I'm just now getting into the whole marathon/triathalon thing.

Horn in HK,

Sorry to get off the main topic, but how did you get to do the NY marathon (lottery, run NYRRC events, charity)?

I want to get in the lottery this year (to start my three rejects and then your in) but don't want to run it this year. Hopefully, I can defer my entry until 2010 if I somehow get lucky in the lotto.

So, OSR, I guess by listening to music, that also makes a person in no way, shape or form any part of anything a real musician does in real life. Got it. Thanks. I'm not sure where anyone was even implying anything like that, but thanks.

FWIW, I play several instruments and love the hell out of RB and GH. In my early 20s I could play a passable simile of CoD, but struggle to get 4 stars in GH3.
