WR Gilbert Johnson (6-3, 205), the fifth member of the Florida Five is set to announce his commit today at 3 pm by twitter. He has always been considered pretty much a silent commit, so nobody is expecting any surprise. [EDIT: He just commtted to us!]
He is a 3-star which is basically because he was all over the place with grade issues. Committed to Georgia last year but didn't qualify and had to go to a Football prep academy to qualify this year and all that. Would be a 4-star or top-100 type under normal circumstances. Yet another key evaluation and grab by Charlie's staff, is what every analyst seems to say in the recruiting world.
Here is the summary of him that I see from various reports -- He may even be the very best receiver recruit out there on pure hands and ability to bring down the high ball. Some even say that he is a near-5-star talent, pretty much. Does not have great quickness for initial separation, but if he gets past the defender and gains speed, he could get some good YAC. And he is very polished in route running, too.
See his HUDL highlight film (The Link ) and you would agree about his hands for catching at the high point. Very tough to defend by usual CBs in college. I am reminded of the Cash brothers. He may be an inch shorter than them but he will score a lot of TDs in the red zone if a QB can float some ball up in his direction (easier said than done in our case, but I digress
