WTF!? Who smokes meat at high temps? You cook BBQ low and slow, every one knows that. If you cook something at high heat for a long time everyone knows what you get: burned food. This article is for the birds. They don't know how to cook, and they try to be the bearer of bad news as well. Screw them. I also love what my brother the MD says. "Never get medical news from a newspaper." Newsweek is basically that. A weekly mainsteam mag. NEVER get medical news from a source like that.... and eat on my friends!
 
The author seems to be making the classic mistake of confusing grilling with BBQing. Regardless, cooking anything at a high temperature for a long time is a recipe for a really crummy meal.

Meat is the condiment for the sauce?

If I wanted a plate of sauce I would have had f'ing soup. That is one of the dumbest statements made by a writer that I have ever read.
