The Emergence of Pittman?

I really liked his game tonight. I realize this goes against the HornFans grain to compliment a player or just say anything positive in general in a loss.

But, he played strong underneath, his composure was excellent, and he should be the one teaching this team how to shoot freakin' free throws. A very nice touch at the line.

I realize he has been a work in progress, but if it meant losing tonight's game to have him emerge, then so be it. We need a big strong guy underneath.

Go Dexter!

I guess I wasn't going on his "stats." I was judging the way he played. (Footnote: I never thought we were out of the game until the last 3 minutes. But, maybe that's just me.) And you gotta like the smile on his face - it was like "who the **** are these clowns?"

Good game for Big-D. He seemed like the only man we had inside who could deal with the aggie big men. I was a little disappointed with James inside though. I though he would go PJ Tucker style this season and not take no **** from no one, but Dex got in there and mixed it up a little. The tech was ********. Big men rough around a little he just flailed a little high. Watch any NBA big man for one quarter and they will take three or four shots worse than that with no call.

I was really happy to see Dex play so well tonight. The guy got one point per minute played and one rebound per two minutes (and did not take any guff). I saw him in person at the Rice game and was pretty dismayed at his lack of conditioning. It is apparent that he is in much better shape now (and improving pretty rapidly). I hope Barnes plays Dex as much as Dex's body can stand (especially when the horns are playing zone D).

I'm tired of him getting offensive fouls for backing someone to the basket and then knock him down. He outweighs everyone on the court by 50 lbs. When he makes an aggressive move to the basket, people are probably going to fall down if they don't move out of the way. That doesn't make it a charge.

I was really impressed with his play. Also I was surpised at the tone in his body that he's starting to develop. If he continues this upward slope I really look forward to what we get from him next year (that's of course dependent on if we're able to develop some post entry skills between then and now).

This Ags view. He's a helluva a player. The amount of weight he dropped is very positive and bodes well for him in the future years. Very nice shooting touch. Good free throw shooter.

Guys like him that are so big will pick up one or two fouls in a game that would not have been called on a smaller player. With continued improvement, he'll be a beast down low.

nice game by Dex... I'm not prepared to call it a "coming out party" or whatever cliche... we're more likely to see him get 5-10 mins per game and 2 pts and 1 reb for the next couple of games than we are to see him score in double digits or get 10 rebounds...

it was an ugly, ugly game for the guys who are supposed to lead this team to victory... someone had to score somewhere and Dex benifitted.... I just hope it provides some motivation for him...

I like what I saw from him overall (besides tech) and that offensive foul call against him was total BS. He was totally in his own space and I hope he keeps going to that move.

I loved his play. He still needs a some work but it's been a long time since we've had someone that was both tall and could play close to the basket. Mihm maybe?

Dexter's play was the only bright spot of the evening. I thought he had a super game and was responsible for us getting the lead down to around 10 points a couple of times. So to say that his play was meaningless just isn't true.

And that offensive foul was just ridiculous. If the ref had been in position to see the play he would have pointed to the aggy laying on the floor and laughed.

The dude is fierce, but he will continue to get the weak foul calls. He is huge and not especially graceful, so even some obvious flops are going to be called charges.

Dex has shown his offensive efficiency since early in his freshman year. I have never understood why he has not gotten more minutes. The initial suggestion from Barnes was that he was not in good enough condition. Even after he lost 70 pounds and seemed to get up and down the court with ease he still did not get minutes.

The only other conceivable reason I could think of him still did not getting minutes was because he picked up quick fouls. But if you're not going to play him anyway, why not let him foul out?

It is good to see that he got some minutes. I hope it is a sign of what is to come. When he finally gets the minutes, he will be an offensive force. I think he could be the best NBA player out of our current players.
