The discovery and ancestry of Unicorns

MSN.com is reporting that some Italians have discovered a unicorn.

Even though this dear has a short single more or less straight antler centered atop its head, aren't unicorns supposed to be an equine of Equus or Equidae?

And yet here, in this tapestry from 1500, we clearly see a more dear or goat like creature more akin to the MSN video:
