The Cable Revolution

I am done with cable. I will only have internet services. I am going to run it out of a set top or net top box and stream online in HD. Netflix for 7.99 unlimited, Hulu and a host of other services will cover the rest. Most of the shows I watch are online already from the source. Others come out a couple of days after they air.

I will just stream the entire season from Netflix for any other shows I miss that don't broadcast online. I am going to save approx. 225 bucks a month. I like that.

What I will miss is Formula 1 and Rally races in HD but I can go to a friends house to watch those if need be. Not the end of the world nor worth a couple of bills a month.

I am shocked at how cheap and easy this process is and what a joke cable is. I won't even mention the outrageous cost of it. I think what got me the most was when a friend had me write down the channels I actually watch somewhat regularly. It was a handful. I have gobs of extra channels I pay for that I don't watch. Wtf, over?

I am done with cable until it is a la carte.

Dang I aint ever thought I see the day cause you were ALWAYS comng into thread obsessed with Grande Cable I thought you may have worked for them with how hard you would promote Grande.

if you have the right cable/internet provider, you can get all ESPN networks and ESPN 3 streaming. If you're ok with not seeing the races live, but maybe minutes after they finish, there are alternative means to getting races as well as conventional means.

You are right, Texas Made. I was a huge proponent of Grande not just because at that time they were awesome but also because Time Warner were/are sleazy scumbags. In short, TW wanted to charge me for wall drops upon installation even though it was free installation but they put them in from the floor (on pier and beam). Then they charged me for all movie packages when I only had HBO. We went round and round.

I had a bitter taste in my mouth and Grande came out with a better product and much cheaper. They had the bundle packages first. Great customer service and they were local and upstart. All good reasons.

Turns out that Grande changed recently and were either bought out or had a huge infusion of outside money and influence. Cable prices went way up. They changed my bundle up, began charging me for HBO (which was free on my bundle) etc...

I did a cost comparison v. what I watch and now that those shows are available online I can get the same stuff for a savings of 225 a month. It's a no brainer.

I would still choose Grande over TW if that makes all right in the universe! I have cost TW a **** ton of money by having people switch to include entire apartment complexes (a buddy managed a couple of properties and did the switch). That sits well with me.

We did the same thing with DirecTV. ESPN 3 on the XBox or over the PC, Hulu, Netflix, and throw in some Rojadirecta and Channelsurf.eu.

I don't miss our $150 per month bill.
