The Black Man holding down the Black Man

I know anytime you start a topic about race it can be controversial. After hearing the new Senator elect from South Carolina Scott speak on the subject it really does sound like it's the black man trying to hold down the black man. He stated he himself has been told he's not black enough. What the hell does that even mean? He stated that he's not going to dumb himself down just to fit in. He stated that just because he speaks properly doesn't make him any different than anybody else that wants to succeed.

Condolezza Rice said she doesn't have to be told she's not black enough because she's been black her whole life. She said just because you aren't a liberal or a person chooses to educate themselves doesn't mean they should hold themselves back to accomplishing their goals in life. She said it's offensive and insulting for anyone to use race as a way to further a political cause.

Bill Cosby said that too many young Black Americans can't eve speak proper English. He said how many young blacks can get a job when they speak like that? How many of them would ever become a doctor or a professional when they speak like that.

Mia Love!!!!!!!!!!! Look at this young promising Black Woman that has worked hard to make something of herself. According to the dems how the hell did she ever get elected? There is a war on Blacks and a war on women.

I know that it's not going to stop by the libs and Dems, but what I do hope is these people mentioned will inspire the many that listens to the liberal agenda that preach a victims mentality. I think America is waking up and I hope the young blacks don't have to worry about being black enough and instead be an individuals and be Americans first. Race is a much bigger issue with blacks than it is with whites or any other race for that matter. Also it's ok for the blacks to vote for what is better for America than their race because in the long run the better America does the better blacks and everyone else will do. Besides, has their life changed any with BHO as president for 6 years? If anything it's got much worse. Race relations have got much worse since BHO has been Prez. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

It is great that more and more blacks are willing to speak out.
Add to that list Charles Barkley.
There I a youtube vid going around with black semi leaders in Detroit Chicago etc pointing out how badly the Dems have treated blacks for decades and how it has hurt the black people.
One young black guy pointed out that Dems gave them welfare but they didn't want welfare, they wanted to work.
It was a great vid . If I can find it again I will post it.

I think/hope there are more blacks who want to work than there are who are content to settle for the life on welfare.
As I hope the same for white people or any others.

This isn't an either/or. As most things the answer is in the middle. Blacks are holding blacks back without a doubt. Bill Cosby is the most eloquent speaker on this topic. There is most certainly other larger societal factors too that are entrenched from centuries gone by. I spent 1yr in Georgia and South Carolina back in the 90's. Racism on all sides was evident and deemed acceptable by both Whites and Blacks.

Yesterday I had the privilege of listening to Geoffrey Canada, of the Harlem Children Zone fame. He railed on school systems that cast kids from an early age. The fact that we as a society still fight over Pre-K education funding is another societal hindrance to the black population pulling themselves out of victimhood.

Who holds black people down more: a KKK member or another black person telling them they aren't black enough if they are working hard in school, etc.?

I've worked with a lot of black people and I see nary a sign of the "hip hop" culture in the workplace -- maybe a little in the parking lot before work (beats thumping out open windows.). Four of the last five hiring managers who have conducted my job interviews have been black. They have all been bright, successful people and three of them have been great to work for ( one didn't hire me.). I can't speak to the situation of all black men and women, but the ones I meet in the corporate environment aren't being held down or back by anyone. In the manger and executive classes, I see no racism or race favoritism and haven't for about 20 years.

I don't know a lot about the man, but after watching his speech last night and reading up about him, I couldn't be more impressed.

The one criticism, if you could call it that, is I wish he would join the CBC...to at least provide a respectful counter perspective on issues, and even garner some gruding support/respect from some of the other members and their constiuents. Maybe they're just too out there and a complete clownshow that Scott doesn't want to waste his time.

Deez, that just goes to show you that anybody can succeed in this great country if they apply themselves. Great story.

In the business world, you hire who is going to work their *** off for you and make you money or whatever drives you, I could care less what they look like, make me money and you are hired!!!! Hell, I don't even care what your political views are when it comes to making me money!!!!
