I think the Big East will be too far-flung to remain stable.
OTOH, I do think Air Force made the right decision in going to the Big East over possibly going to the Big 12.
Air Force might actually win the Big East in a good year.
Like Texas Tech, Air Force might come close to a Big 12 title every once in a while, but might not ever actually win it.
The Big East for Air Force is the kind of decision that fits your kids and fanbase, to heck with the bigger payday. Plus, Air Force probably doesn't have a lot of women's athletics to support.
Boston globe reporting SMU and UH take the big east to 12 football schools. Not a bad western division with Boise, AF, UH, SMU, Louisville, and west virginia. East with Rutgers, Cincy, USF, UCF, UConn, and Navy isn't great but whatever.
Well, if the Big-12 decides to expand beyond ten, who the heck can we go after now, apart from BYU? (No, don't suggest UH, SMU, or Rice.) Why would West Virginia or Louisville want to join our conference (exit penalty now up to $10 million)?
This is just crazy to me. Even though it was a pipe dream, I was sure hoping the Big 12 would take BYU and BSU to make 12. At least I could see my horns play here every 4 years or so. Oh well bring on Rutgers,
Target Tulane? Tulane's like the deer that feeds out of your hand. It's more like "add" Tulane, not "target" them. Tulane does have that precious "proximity" Texas' admins covet right now, but Tulane is extremely low lying fruit, drawing just over 19,000 people in 3 home games this year (one against Syracuse). Nobody wants Tulane except, perhaps, Texas and the B2. Therefore, I would not be surprised at all if the B2 added Tulane when Missouri defects to the SEC. Texas does travel to the beat of a different drum.
Arkansas? Oh god, not Arkansas again. That's like saying "I'm going to win the lottery tonight because I want to." Except the odds are better that I win the lottery tonight than piggy leaving the best, strongest, and most lucrative conference ever assembled. Arkansas has absolutely zero interest in the B2. Have you not noticed that the SEC is adding teams, not shedding teams? If you're going to fantasize, why not fantasize over bigger game such as LSU, Alabama, Tennessee, or some other SEC school? Hell, the B2 may not even be able to hold Missouri, much less add Arkansas. Sometimes our Texas arrogance is unbounded.
Texas is at TCU/Tulane level, not Arkansas level. You become who you run with. The factual occurrences in the real world don't lie.
