the Big and Nebraska

Don’t want them back. Stay gone my friends, it’s goodbye to you and that other team who left for greener pastures

The only reason to take Nebraska back is because Bowelsby is a moron.

Deloss said it best, "They bring nothing to the table"

Honestly I don't get the animosity towards them. They did what what.was in their own best interest
Just like "The Godfather" it was business not personal. We were more than willing to leave the Big 12 for the PAC 12. What's the difference?

Agree, IDE. Everybody wants to get mad today if others don't acquiesce to their point of view. We've lost our way partially due to an inability to engage respectfully with others, explore ideas together, and have healthy dialogue without vilification.
We've lost the personal integrity, morality, and ethics (not to mention critical thought, understanding of language, and emotional intelligence) to do so. So now all we have are emotions. It is one giant romper room preschool full of children...though 4 year olds are less destructive.

Let Nebraska back in the Big 12! I liked playing them. I like the Nebraska fans I know. They get Football. I would be good with Colorado too. My Niece is a Junior there. Plus it would just piss off the Aggies.

Agree. I would love to see Colorado, Nebraska, Arkansas and or Missouri in the Big 12. All have had their ups and downs and all hate Texas. In my opinion they all bring more than current AnM.

FWIW, I'd be OK with Huskers coming back to the Big XII.

It would bring some strength back to the conference. IMHO, a lot better choice than U. Houston, SMU and some other programs speculated about bringing in.

Re: Neb. - for the most part I like their fans plus to Yella Dawgs point the Horns beat up on them 9-1 since 1996 and before they left in 2009 or was it 2010?

I don't want aggy back, ever. Like Arkansas, neither of those programs would come back because they just cannot STAND to lose to UT in football. They would rather get beaten year in and year out by Bama, Auburn, LSU, etc.

I'm indifferent about Colorado or Mizzou....

Just my .02

Shatel: Is this the beginning of the end of Nebraska in the Big Ten?

Interesting read from lat month. Some say Frost wants back in the Big 12. Acc and sec seem remote choices.

Since that article in August, I've seen nothing about Neb leaving the Big, so it was most likely some steam blowing off by them, hyped up by media types to make a story where there isn't one.

It's my understanding that the academic side of Nebraska craved being in the same league as Northwester and Michigan and Purdue for years, was desperate to leave us plains hicks behind, and would not allow under any circumstances returning to the B12.

We are talking about Nebraska? That's the same Nebraska that threatened to leave the Big XII before it was formed because Texas and Mizzou demanded certain academic standards?

Only reason they backed down was because their only option then was the Missouri Valley Conference or the MAC.

Academic standards for the players (ringers) yes was an issue for them, as they wanted them kept to the same low standards as the B8.

But on the non-AD side of things, it's my understanding the school craves to be included in the same mention as the Big schools, not OU/OSU/KSU, etc.

I like Nebraska because they like football.
I like Mizzoo because of the border wars with Kansas
I like Colorado because of the buffalo
I like Arkansas because I hate them.

If possible, I'd like to see this leveraged into: "If you can help us talk Missouri or Colorado into coming back as well, or if you get convince Iowa to come with you from the B1G, you're in."

12 teams works better than 11, and it'd be nice to have a decent North division. Out of Nebraska, Colorado, Missouri, and Iowa, none of them have won a conference championship in recent memory, but all of them have won their division in the past decade. In order:

2016: Colorado (Pac 12 South)
2015: Iowa (B1G West)
2013: Missouri (SEC East)
2012: Nebraksa (B1G Legends)

Ohio State & Michigan will leave the BigTen before Iowa would

Mizzou is miserable in the SEC, but I would take them only for TV value. The networks perceive that Missouri controls the St Louis & KC television markets, so they drive some money

Colorado is a broke school in a broke state. Boulder is a beautiful setting with the canyon and the view from Flagstaff, but Folsom is a **** stadium, worse design than Kyle. They don't have enough money to feed Ralphie much less renovate that stadium, which would require the destruction of the West side. Hell, look how many years it took them to raise the money for a practice bubble.

Only reason to allow Nebraska to come back is to allow the new generation to visit Lincoln, home of the best fans in America.

As for Arkansas, this generation knows nothing but the Hogs are a non entity in the SEC. Nobody travels to Fayetteville. It would be fun to play them every year, but you would open their recruiting pipeline up again. Kendall would exploit that, unless he's already pissed off everyone in Fayetteville.

For those who haven't been, or don't do business with WalMart in the 800 or 1300, this is not the Fayettenam we once knew. XNA is a very beautiful place with Beaver Lake & Grand Lake of the Cherokees right down the road, it is really nice thanks to Bill Walton and Johnny Tyson. I think the Hogs would be less of a leach than Ralphie and company.

I'd take NU back into the Big XII just for the space we take up in their head. Up until the conferences started shifting, everyone always cared about what Texas brought to the table. As much as their fans don't want to admit it, they were an ally in the sense that the "big" schools could determine how up or down the conference was in any given year.

I'd also be in favor of ditching the CCG and going to a 10-game conference slate if that was the case.

Nebraska, Missouri, and Arky added to the conference would be great. That would make a strong, viable B12 conference. People forget Nebraska was abusing everyone back in the early to mid 90s. That team that beat the SEC,SEC,SEC's champion Florida Gators in '95 (?) for the national championship 60 something to 20 something was one of the great teams of all time. That first time we played them in the B12 championship game we were 23 point underdogs.

Those Nebraska teams had 200 players, a larger stash of roids than all the schools in the SEC combined, virtually zero academic standards, and a few convicts thrown in.

In essence, Osborne was allowed to cheat his *** off, and still went something like 3 & 25 against ranked teams. Their glory days are gone and won't return.

But on the non-AD side of things, it's my understanding the school craves to be included in the same mention as the Big schools, not OU/OSU/KSU, etc.
That is analogous to aggy wanting in the $EC - they fell better not being competitive in the $EC than not competitive in the Big XII. The Nebraska academic types can crave all they want, but the B1G isn't that hungry.

Any addition should enhance the league and in my mind NU, Mizzou and Arky simply don’t. Of the three, Nebraska would be my reluctant preference, but only if we could also land a gem at the same time like USC. Otherwise, I would wait until a quality option becomes available.

Duke,

Would you take USC and the two Arizona schools?

I think that is doable if we have a commissioner with a clue, although he did come from Stanford, so he knows the people at USC (not AD, but the people that count)

I do agree with all of the above concerns about "my" likes for expansion. However, I'd rather play Colorado, NU, Arky and Mizzou every year or so. I like Mizzou mostly for basketball, I get Colorado is not committed to football, and I HATE ARKY. Went to Fayette nam with Vince in 2005, great game, horrible fans. I loved the butt hurt of NU in the Big 12, loved it! They are not Einsteins but who cares? We have Baylor.

They left because they couldn't beat Texas. It was personal. Everyone who was at the last Nebraska game in 2010 saw what I saw. The" nation's best fans" had become the world's worst.

- Mike

They WERE the best fans when they had 50 years of always winning.
Once that changed they became like good fans everywhere. Not totally obnoxious.

They did have to agree to the NCAA standards of admission for scholar athletes which are minimal at best

Of course, Herman would probably reverse the trend and have his *** handed to him by Nebraska. But, it was great derailing their NC hopes in '96 and derailing the 2 long home winning streaks. Yep, those were great.
