The BEST sauteed mushrooms ever

So i just made dinner...cooked a couple filet mignons

However the best part of our dinner was the sauteed mushrooms I cooked along side...

First off I kind of merged two seperate recipes...but here goes

16 oz mushrooms

10 oz beef stock

2 shallots(enough for 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup)

3 tablespoons butter

1/3 cup red wine (i used a le crema pinot noir because we were drinking it and I have always heard don't cook with a wine you wouldn't drink)

over medium heat melt the butter add the shallots(minced) saute till golden brown. Then add the mushroom & saute till brown...the liquid should reduce down(about 15 min give or take)....

turn up to about medium high, add beef broth and simmer for about 15 to 20 min....

then add the wine reduce heat and simmer till the liquid reduces(about 15 min)...

season with salt and pepper to taste

sorry for the approximations but i just kind of winged it, but you really can't screw this up.

spoon over a nicely prepared steak and enjoy

Made these last night. Substituted yellow onion for shallots, and I added some garlic.

These really were the best mushrooms I've ever made and it was so simple. So simple.

Thanks!

Easy allsome mushroom recipe:

Dump a bunch of mushrooms in a pot with a jar of Stubbs Beef Marinade. Add water if necessary to cover mushrooms. Boil. Simmer for a few minutes. Enjoy.

what kind of shrooms did you use?

I prefer to use a bit more butter when I saute and after the wine reduces, I add a bit of cream. sometimes I'll also add a little fresh mild herb if I have it handy right at the end.

I made this tonight, along with ribeye cooked in a cast iron skillet with clarified butter, baked potatoes, and steamed broccoli. Not bad, not bad at all, if you have a gas oven you might turn down the heat a bit for the shallots and mushrooms. Thanks for the recipe.

you carnivores can't even make sauteed mushrooms without meat???
