the Ballpark Seating

I'll be in town on the 10th of August and plan on going to the game that night. I want to get lower level seats, infield area. Can anyone tell me the most likely areas to be shaded early? The sun is not my friend.

You can get lower level infield seats that are never in the sun -- they are so far up under the second level that they never see light of day.

Now, whether any of these will be available, I have no idea.

Avoid the 3rd base seats. The 1st base seats (Rangers dugout side) go into the shade first.

Thanks guys. Ebay has a whole bunch of tickets lower level for both yankee games. Kind of expensive but I don't go that often.

The higher your row in the 100s, the closer you are to the no-shade seats (we sat in them one cold Opening Day, and it was miserable! We really neede the sun!)

I'd call the box office and ask specifically for lower-level seats that are always shaded. If they've not got any, they can at least tell you what rows to be shopping for with a third-party seller.

If you watch the Rangers wrap-up show, you've seen Jim Knox talking to fans up under the overhang on the third-base side. You can get third-base seats that are never in the sun -- we've sat in them before.

Thanks Texanne! I really don't want to sit that high but I want a compromise between seats closer to the field and only having sunlight a minimum amount of time.

Let me suggest that you use StubHub rather than eBay-- they are a partner with MLB, so most of the tickets on there will be emailed to you directly by the Rangers for download and printing. Sure, it's essentially legalized scalping but at least you don't have to worry about eBay scams. Also, you often can find cheaper-than-face lowers...but not for the Yankees.

By about gametime most of the seats on the 3rd base side are in the shade as well. At most you will have about 20 minutes of gametime in the sun. Just hope for a night with some breeze because there wasn't any at all last night.

7:05 starts - there's usually no sun on the lower level 3rd-base side. the shade may hit sooner on 1B, but around game time it makes no difference. Day game is a horse of a different color.
