The only time I went to the Kentucky Derby was 1978. I rarely pick winners in horse racing, but I bet a small amount on Affirmed to win, while the people I was with were all snickering at me saying Alydar was the favorite and was going to win. I think I won $100 that day but the real gratification was picking a winner in a sport I know little about AND one that went on to win the Triple Crown.
