Thanksgiving Ideas

I knew the day would come, and it is here. Lostboy#1 won't be home for Turkey day this year, Lostdaughter has not been home for some time now.
It will just be Losthubby, Lostboy#2 (age 15) and me. We are going to Florida for Christmas, but are now looking for something else to do for T-day, rather than turkey and stuffing at home. I was looking at something maybe out in Big Bend. Anyone else have other ideas? Thanks!

The correct answer is driving to College Station, having a Thanksgiving Dinner tailgate, and watching the horns beat aggy.

I'm a little puzzled.

Marfa's supposed to be a fun little town, fairly close to Big Bend.

There's a small hotel built around a hot springs out there... here's the link...

Back in the dark, dark days of 1997, I bailed on the A&M game for a three day trip down the Guadalupe in Big Bend. Totally bad ***.

Trip was organized by Leisure Learning in Houston. Me and a buddy and about 15 or so strangers. Left Tursday evening. Drove all night. Friday on the river. Slept under the stars deep in the canyon. Saturday on the river all day. Slept on the shore just outide the canyon. Sunday morning on the river. Then pull out. Head home. Back home late Sunday night.

No equipment needed. Just show up. BYOB, but all other food was provided. Everyone was invited to help with meal prep as much or as little as they liked.

I suspect you meant the Rio Grande and not the Guadalupe. Sounds like a fun trip. I did have a friend many years ago who got caught in a nasty headwind in the Rio Grande canyon on a canoe trip. They couldn't make headway and finally had to climb out of the canyon and hike a long way for help. That's a canoe trip they'll never forget.
