...work just swamped me. won't have much time to shop or cook. was told to bring appetizers to the dinner I'm going to tomorrow.

think I'm doing a prosciutto and puff pastry thing.

need one more appetizer for 15 people.

any ideas?

Buy a bunch of japs and some good chorizo. Halve the japs and scraped the seeds and veins out. If you do it today and refrigerate them there will be no heat whatsoever for the pepper *******. Slice open the chorizo and brown it with a bit of onion and garlic. Like about 2 tablespoons each for one package of chorizo. Drain off the orange artery death and stir in some cream cheese until it looks and tastes good and spoon it into the japs.

...that is a good idea. here in NYC, I'll have a hard time finding chorizo. any thoughts on and adding my own spices (cumin, chili, ?) to touch up pork sausage? or would that get too weird?

Maybe a spicy italian woud do. Something that will kinda crumble when you brown it after scraping it out of the casing.

Bread crumbs, huh? Never thought of that. Sounds good though.

It is good. Kinda ties everything together.

Also, make sure you wear gloves of some sort when cutting up the japs. Your hands will thank you.

I went to a dinner last month where one of the guests brought water chestnuts wrapped in bacon with a toothpick to keep it together. I think they baked them in the oven, but if you had a smoker...

A very easy appetizer that fits with the Thanksgiving theme.

Deviled Eggs!...thats old School!

what about a big *** batch of sauted mushrooms, add a bowl of toothpicks and watch folks chow. I know it seems kinda weak and trashy but people love shrooms.

maybe a nice cheese plate with some fruit and cured meats?

Hard to go wong with butterflied large shrimp with a sliver of jalepeno and Jack Cheese wrapped in bacon skewers. We usually bring them over raw and broil the suckers at the guests house. However ask them first as they may have the oven occupies.

Here another super easy one called party swirls.

1 can 4 oz mushroom pieces (chop finely)
6 strips crisp fried bacon finely choopped
1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
4 taplespoons mayo
6 ounces cream cheese
1 tube (8 count) crescent rolls

Take all the ingrediants and mix them together except the crescent rolls. Remove the crescent rolls and keep them in the rectangular pieces. Spread a layer of the mixture evenly on the rectangle and then roll it up lengthwise. repeat this until done placing the rolled up swirls in the freezer for 10 minutes. This makes them easier to cut. Place cut swirls on greased cookie sheet or exopat if you have one (best pastry invention ever!)

375 degree oven for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned.

If you want to make fancier brush the swirls with an egg wash and sprinkle some poppy seeds on top.

VERY simple, looks great and tastes even better!

I'm giving the japs w/ chorizo a shot. Am I right in understanding you just brown the chorizo/sautee the veggies then just serve in the jalapeno? No grilling or heating the whole concoction (sp) for the whole paragraph...

Crackers with Brie and some cranberry sauce. Not the **** that is jelly and comes out of a can in a cylindrical shape, use either homemade or the stuff thats sold at central Market or Whole Foods. We serve it every year and everyone always loves it.
