texassports.com Tx vs UALR game preview

ualrtrojans.com game preview

Some highlites:
UALR defense has similar numbers to Texas’ in FG and 3pt FG defense.

They are picked to win the Sun Belt Conference.

Freshman Antoina Robinson (6-1 F, Duncanville) was a teammate of Empress during the 2012 Duncanville championship run.

UALR’s (3-2) best win is an OT win over Memphis, 68-63.
Both Texas and UALR are seeking their third win in a row. Someone’s winning streak will end Wednesday.

Horns will have a decided height advantage in the post with UALR’s tallest players at 6-2 (Hannah Fohne, Sr. F & Carolee Dillard, Soph. F) and four others at 6-1. This will Fohne’s second game back from a back injury. Expect the Trojan’s #2 career shot blocker and Dillard to log time together on the court to try to counter Texas’ height advantage.

UALR is a terrible, terrible team. UALR couldn't beat many Texas 5A teams. Their coaches are jokes. They never coached and even laughed at some of their teams miscues. That's sad. One of the worst offensive teams I've seen. That said, Texas played well. I see more movement on offense, which of course will be tested against "real" teams. Something I'm enjoying this year is seeing Coach Aston seem to relax and get in a groove as a coach. Last year some players were disgruntled (and left), which isn't surprising with a regime change. Maybe it's only in my mind, but there seems to be a real connection with players, including the way she and Chas now sing The Eyes every time, arm in arm. It wasn't this way last year. Looking forward to seeing what they can do Sunday in Knoxville, if they can get out of Austin during the Blizzard of '13.

Yeah hard to figure why UALR played so poorly last night. Obviously this is a game we were definitely expected to win, but UALR is supposed to be a pretty good ball club. And I won't argue with your assessment of their staff since I wasn't there, but their HC was Sun Belt Coach of the Year in both 2010 and 2011, and Regional Coach of the Year in 2010. And he has led the team to 7 straight 20 + win seasons. Oh well, glad the Horns got a win, and glad we're going into the Tennessee contest with some momentum. And hopefully a lot of confidence also! Win or lose I hope we play as well as we have lately, and against the ags in particular.

Overseasbbfn1: You know more about UALR than I do. I didn't know that about their coaches etc. I'm even more surprised then by the team's play and their coaches' lack of coaching from the bench. Regardless -- it was a solid win. Now on to the other UT.
