The rubber game of the series is a must for both teams. WVU tries to finish strong and get into a regional and win the last game ever played on Hawley Field.

Texas still hopes to host a regional if they can finish with a flourish.

WVU starts their third straight left hander in junior John Means while Texas starts freshman right hander Lukas Schiraldi gets the start because of Peters not making the trip.

I have to go out for a while and may not be back for the start of the game. I will try to pick it up as soon as I get back.

The link for the video stream is still the same as the first two days threads.

Carter, the DH leads off the Texas second against Means.

He lines a single to left on one hop. His bat was missed while he was injured.

Shaw comes up lefty and gets the bunt down as Carter goes to secnd.

The count is worked full and a fly ball is out to left and carries on the wind to the wall before the left fielder makes the catch.

Runners on the corners with one down for lead off hitter Taylor Munden batting righty.
A ground ball to third is a 5-4 force for two outs.
Gurwitz should have gone home with that as he had no chance for a double play.

WVU leads 3-2.

Two down and one on for Bobby Boyd, the centerfielder.
The runner at first takes second on a delayed steal as Barrera's throw was wide and late.

Boyd grounds one to first and he boots it all the way into foul territory. The run scores from second and Boyd gets all the way to second.

WVU leads 4-2 as this is shades of Friday's error fest.

Fleming bats right handed with one on and lines one right to Payton to finally retire the side.

WVU doubles Texas's output in the second and thus leads 4-2 after two played.

The third starts as now it's Means with the lead at 4-2.
He faces Payton from the left side leading off.

Payton with a sinle in the first has already extended his on base streak to 87 games.
He draws a lead off walk.

Barrera bats right handed and is not showing any sign of bunting.
Another walk puts the tying runs on with no outs.

Carter with a hit already steps in a probable bunting situation.

Need some contact here with the infield back at least.
After some contemplation the umpire decides to call strike three on a borderline pitch.

Hinojosa bats with two down now and you just can't waste these kind of opportunities on a day meant for offense.
A ground ball to third does just that as that retires the side.

Big opportunity wasted and to the bottom of three WVU leads 4-2.

Schiraldi works on in the third and faces Ryan McBroom.

The right handed first baseman rips a double down the line in left to lead off.

The new Texas hurleris lefty Travis Duke as the pen is short today and it looks like that will be tested today.

He faces Johnson batting from the right side with runners on the corners and no outs.

O'Brien now bats righty as a switch hitter against Duke.

Cramer bats lefty with one on and two down.
A ground ball goes toward the hole on the right side and a diving stop by Marlow and he rights himself and makes the throw for a nice play and that retires the side.

It's obscene that this program has become a model for mediocrity.

"Paper doesn't stink. Trees don't stink. There's something you're doing to in the process that stinks. Quit it." - Ron White

Morgan Cooper is the new Texas pitcher in the fourth.

The right hander faces Constantini leading off.
He bats righty and rips a line drive up the middle for a single as WVU is ripping Texas pitching today.

Top of the order Munden bats right and does the same thing for another hit.

Boyd bats lefty with two on and no outs.
He bunts down the third base line and Cooper fields and drops it for yet another Texas error.
That was Gurwitz's play and Cooper took it away from him/.

Fleming bats righty and the bases loaded and he rips another single to center and two runs score.

WVU leads 7-2 and out comes Skip and why did they take out Duke so soon?

So still no outs and runners at first and second.

McBroom bats right handed.
A wild pitch moves up the runners and this is getting ugly.
A foul pop can't be located by Barrera and out one falls harmlessly behind home plate.
So naturally he lines a single by Gurwitz and another run scores.

WVU leads 8-2.

Runners on the corners and Rice bats righty with still no outs.
A ground ball goes to short for a 6-4-3 double play as the run scores.

Halfway through the final game of the series and a slow pitch softball game may be breaking out on a windy day with little pitching left for either side.

Here comes Skip and the change is made.

Ty Culbreth is the next pitcher in cue for Texas.

The lefty will face Boyd with two down.
He hits him on the hand he goes to first.

Fleming bats right handed with two down and one on.
Another rip is a single to left.

Here comes Skip and yet another pitching change is made.
I didn't know we had this many pitcher's on the trip.

Chad Hollingsworth continues the Conga line of Texas pitchers and soon you think maybe French and Thornhill will be getting up.

The right handed pitcher faces McBroom batting righty with two on and two out.

Yet another smash is a single to left and another run scores.

WVU leads 12-5.

Same situation for Rice now batting righty.
A foul pop is finally run down by Marlow to retire the side.

Five terrible innings played so far and WVU leads 12-5.

Not trying to start trouble but this is what makes what Barnes did so impressive to me.
Mack couldn't rebuild the program and it looks like Augie might have the same uphill challenge.
Barnes got it together in one.

Maybe we will have a strong playoff run though. You never know

One away for Carter and he continues to rake with a double in the gap in left center.

Shaw bats lefty with a runner in scoring position and he blast a ball off the base of the wall in left center for another double.

WVU leads 12-6 and that finally gets Means removed.

The second pitcher of the game for WVU is right hander is Pascal Paul.

He has Shaw at second and one down.

The first hitter he will see is Hinojosa.
A pop to shallow right is caught by the second baseman as he crashes into the right fielder and out comes the trainer.

He stays in the game.

Two down for pinch hitter Clemens who bats for Silver.

Shaw leads from second as Clemens stands in left handed.
He K's looking to retire the side.

Stretch time on Senior Day and the last game at Hawley Field and it looks like they will celebrating in Morgantown.

WVU leads 12-6.

Sawyer faces the top of the order in Munden as the WVU seventh starts.

A fly ball to right is one away.

Boyd bats lefty next.
He bunts like he seems to do every other at bat, but it goes back to Sawyer for two down.

Fleming bats righty with two down.
He walks as I guess it was asking too much for the side to be retired in order once.

McBroom grounds one deep into the hole on the left side and Hinojosa gets there and sets and guns him down to retire the side.

Seven innings gone by and WVU in control 12-6.

That ump is as atrocious as Kacy Clement's .218 batting average. Anything they throw remotely near the plate is a strike. Guess he wants to guarantee they get a win in last game at the stadium. What a joke. And Clements goes to plate with 2 instructions...walk (.366 OBP), or go down looking. Jesus!

Paul faces Gurwitz in the Texas eighth.

He steps in right handed against the right handed pitcher.
He grounds out to short for one away.

Top of the order in Marlow back again bats lefty.
A little chopper to first is a 3U out two.

He lines a single to left center for a two out runner.

Payton bats again from the left side with one on and two down.
Another grounder to first is taken to the bag to retire the side.

Bottom of the eighth and WVU leads 12-6.

Sawyer toils on for Texas in the eighth and faces the right handed hitting Rice.

He grounds to short for one away.

Johnson bats with one down right handed.
A swinging bunt down the left field line is fielded by Sawyer and he fields and nips him at first for two down.

O'Brien bats with two away and flies out to left as the elusive perfectly pitched inning is found, but much too late.

Going to the ninth and WVU leads 12-6.

Sean Carley, the closer comes in for good measure on Senior Day.

The right hander faces righty hitting Barrera leading off the ninth.

He hits him for a lead runner.

Carter comes to bat again having a good day and series.
He K's looking for one away.

Shaw bats with one one and one down.
A fly ball to right is two down.

So Hinojosa is Texas last hope with two away.
A fly ball to left ends the madness.

We make WVU happy on Senior Day and the last game on this field.

WVU wins 12-6.

Well that wasn't very pleasant was it?

Both teams can now most likely pack their bags for trips to regionals thanks to this series results.

So much for my first big game on LHN when it debuts on Dish May 28th being a regional in Austin you would think.

This was just too ugly to even try to analyze it really. It was a team effort in a bad way.

Texas will now fall into a tie for fifth place in the conference standings. Seems like not long ago the Horns were in first place and people were talking about being the overall number one seed in the country.

Nine days to the probably last game of the season at home against Texas State scheduled for 11 am. That should make for a good crowd.

If Texas has any chance to host a regional now it would most likely take a Conference Tourney Championship.
