Texas vs Uconn

Vol Horn 4 Life

Good Bye To All The Rest!
Quote of the night after Uconn hits a three up by three with about 4 min left:

"I'd say that quieted the crowd but that would be hard to do"

Not because it was so rowdy, but because our crowd sucks and was already quiet with an awesome game going on.

Game in limbo with 2:30 left, we score to bring it to 4 and it's like walking through a cemetary. The crowd sucks.

Holy ****, first three rows sitting and several with crossed legs and arms crossed watching the action with less than two left.

Ugh! Down 2 with 29 seconds left, Uconn shooting two and the visible crowd is standing but doing nothing. Noise is minimal and no activity what so ever. He made both.

I'm embarrassed.....

Again, after great play on offense to score we are only down three with 7.4 seconds with Uconn shooting free throws and the crowd is stagnant. No excitement. No passion. No home court advantage.

I know......we are a football school.....:puke:

We win by 10 + with Ridley....Lost....Crowds will be even worse as the season goes along. Without Ridley most of our games will be just like this unless we go crazy from 3 point land. We are terrible at FTs as a team, and our bigs without Ridley are no threat. Hope Smart brings in some good big men and we don't lose any of these Freshmen to the NBA...then maybe we will have a good team that can challenge Kansas etc in conference play next year.

I was surprised that Texas was there at the end of game despite the horrid 3 pt shooting. But, yeah, going to be tough without Ridley.

well Joe it makes sense really since all those transfers were transferring off a Barnes team.
I don't think any of Shaka's frosh will transferr

This is now a rebuilding season looking forward to next years program. Cam wont be back.
FEC blows ******* as a basketball venue. UT's blue haired gentry fans are lame. Water's wet.

After watching last nite's game I believe that Cleare has the talent to carry part of Cam's load. He needs to work on his offensive game and more aggressive rebounding. He had flashes of offense that showed what he can do. I'm not giving up on this season. Even without Cam we've got a talented team. Shaka and the team will adjust. Silver lining: Cam's injury could ultimately help if Cleare (a junior) develops into a better and more consistent offensive player. :bevo:

I agree Mobius. Shaq has a decent pedigree and tons of ability and upside. Watching him play last night, he looked excited to be on the floor. He looked like he was having fun. He has the ability to fill in for Cam. It's just going to boil down to minutes for him....and how badly he wants to break out of his shell and seize this opportunity to live up to the potential he had coming out of HS.

You nailed it. I think maybe he got a bit discouraged about his minutes and this need for him could be just the impetus to get him going. We'll see.

Not because it was so rowdy, but because our crowd sucks and was already quiet with an awesome game going on.

At this point, is this surprising to anyone? For someone like Fran who's very familiar with the Erwin Center, I couldn't believe he was this surprised by the atmosphere.

Our crowd has always "saved its energy" for key moments, and has never been good about starting loud or staying loud. It is what it is as long as we're in the building and as long as the seating is how it is. I'm surprised no one pointed out that the students are still out, so I'm sure that had something to do with it.

What's funny is that OU has the exact same issue we have. Lloyd Noble is almost a carbon to the Erwin Center experience, and most of their fans will cite the same reasons (i.e. "bluehairs").

I was a freshman when the drum first opened, had season tickets that year, and went to the first game played there. It was loud during Abe Lemmon's tenure. It's atmosphere more closely resembles a morgue now except for rare occasions.
