Texas vs UCONN Date Set

well, it's time to make those plane and hotel reservations if going.
I'm glad the game is on a weekend and on ESPN.

Hopefully it's early enough in the season that UCONN is still adjusting to life without Stewart, Jefferson and Tuck.
Gotta remember that we will also be adjusting to live without three starters, including our defensive stopper inside.

I want to go too! I went to Southwest website and they fly to Hartford, but aren't yet taking reservations for Dec.

Southwest also flies to Providence, RI. It's about the same distance, so check out both when reservations are available for December!

I forget who I flew when I went up there a few years back ('07 maybe) for the first two rounds of the NCAA's but I flew into Hartford...as I recall, Providence (already mentioned) and Albany were the other two minor airports I priced out (I was going to have a rental car anyhow, so a short drive wasn't an issue).

Considered that but also thought that the only spot we should see a significant drop is at C. Let's say the starting 5 is:
PG - Brooke
G - Atkins
G - Higgs
F - Holmes
C - Lang

PG - Gain quite a bit of offense with Brooke, don't lose much on D if any.
G - Gain offense with either Atkins or Higgs over Davenport, not much loss on D with Atkins (if she avoids foul trouble) and Higgs could be a very pesky defender if she can utilize her speed/quickness more efficiently.
F - Holmes will still be adjusting to the college game but we've never had a player like her.
C - Lose all the shot blocking and the shot alteration of Imani but I think Kelsey could be effective on offense if she regains her confidence.

I'm not saying we should be the favorite but I have more confidence in the changes in the Texas lineup than trying to replace the Top 3 picks in the draft that included the 2 best players at their position in all of college basketball. UCONN had good players on the bench this past season, no doubt, but the Texas starting 5 will have much more big game experience.

Do these people ever play anywhere but their own back yard? Or is just us that has to always play them there? Just like our men never play Duke anywhere but in the East.

we have played a home and home with UConn before. Now, if you are talking about the NCAAs, that's another matter altogether.

You can also look for flights into the three NYC airports (laguardia being the smallest and closest) or Boston airport both about 2 hours away. Should be a great game...I am looking forward to these two classic teams meeting - with Texas have the advantage this time.
