well as we've been told A&M will never happen again so I think we can let that Idea go. And I think UCLA bring a combined group of more competitive games than we would have w/ LSU. And a better national cache IMO

This game is about giving Texas exposure in the Houston area. You don't do something stupid like ask Texas A&M or LSU (schools somewhat close to Houston) to be your opponent and give them equal exposure; you bring in a school like UCLA (distant) that ESPN obviously feels is worthy of a good TV slot.

I get that Texas wants more exposure in Houston, and rightly so. Getting a regional "rival" would benefit Texas more, especially if both Men's and Women's team win their games.

Texas is Texas and should not be afraid to play anyone.

I think you missed Moo's point. It isnt that Texas would be scared to play LSU or A&m. The point was, why would we help their recruiting exposure? Because they benefit by merely being in the game, win or lose (Especially LSU)....It makes more sense to play a strong team from a far away place that you would rarely compete w/ for recruits..........At least I thats what I took away from what moo said.

Coach Aston is definitley thinking "recruiting presence in Houston" with this game. Come to think of it, when was the last time the Texas women played a game in Houston?

Duke in Orlando, Miami or Atlanta would have also worked. Texas cannot let the SEC scum come into Texas without an equal push into SEC territory.

More signs of nostalgic haplessness from the current regime. Elite recruiting these days is a national business. Mulkey has the elite recruits who want to stay in Texas wrapped up, quite rightly so. Where did the Ogumwike sisters go? I hope a game in L.A. is scheduled. That would show a little more vision. It is not 1986 anymore, folks. Anyone who thinks scheduling a game in Houston against a team which had a losing record last year and failed to make the NCAA tournament is going to help in-state recruiting is deluded.

I understand why the game is in Houston. Now I want to know if there will be a package deal for the tickets (womens & mens purchased together) and if there will be a bus there and back.
