Tech has only one player in double digit scoring in league play: Kierra Mallard (# 20, 6-3 Jr. F/C) at 11.0 ppg. Three others are just under at 9.7, 9.6, and 9.1 ppg. Respectively, they are Chynna Brown (# 00, 5-8 Soph. G), Teena Wickett (# 4, 6-3 Sr. F/C) and Casey Morris (# 15, 5-9 Soph. G). Morris (22-61, 36.1% from BTA) is the only Lady Raider to have made more than 8 3s in league play. She has attempted about two and a half times more 3s than the next closest Lady Raider, Brown who is 8-25 for 32.0% from BTA. Monique Smalls (# 23, 5-6 Soph. G) is the most accurate shooter who has attempted at least 10 3s, going 7-15 for 46.7%. Teena Wickett (4-10, 40.0%), Jordan Barncastle (# 1, 6-2 Jr. F) (6-18, 33.3%) and Mary Bokenkamp (# 24, 5-9 Soph. G) (5-13, 38.5%) are the other Lady Raiders that have attempted at least 10 treys. Tech has seven players that have stepped up to the FT line at least 10 times. Christine Hyde (# 5, 5-10 Soph. G) at 36-60, 60.0%, has gotten to the FT line 20 more than Wickett, who is 24-40, 60.0%. Mallard, Morris and Smalls are all hitting at least 70% of their FTs. Brown (22-25, 88.0%) has the best percentage . Mallard is the top rebounder at 7.4 rpg while Wickett adds 5.4 rpg. Six Lady Raiders have 12 or more assists in league play, topped by Smalls’ 49. Mallard, with 27 blocks, is the only Lady Raider in double figures in that category. Smalls, with 32 steals, leads six players with 11 or more steals.

Tech has fourteen players on their roster. All fourteen have gotten into at least one league game. The main rotation has nine players that average 10 or more minutes a game and a tenth that averages 8 minutes a game. Smalls, Morris, and Mallard all average between 30 and 33 minutes a game. Those three have started all 14 league games. Five others have started at the other two positions. These five are: Wickett-10 starts; Brown-2 starts; Hyde-5 starts; Barncastle-7 starts; and Shauntal Nobles (# 33, 6-3 F/C)-4 starts. In the last six games, Hyde has started the last five. Barncastle has started one. Nobles has started four and Wickett has started two, including the last one. Against OSU, the starting lineup consisted of Mallard, Smalls, Morris, Hyde and Wickett.

Four Horns are averaging double figure scoring: Chassidy (17.6 ppg); Kat (11.7 ppg); Yvonne (11.1 ppg) and Ashleigh (10.2 ppg). Chassidy (31-84, 36.9%) and Kat (24-71, 33.8%) have pretty much doubled up on 3 pt attempts on the others. Yvonne (17-39, 43.6%) and Tiffany (5-12, 41.7%) are the players hitting over 40% from BTA for Texas. Seven Horns have gotten to the FT line at least 19 times, led by Chassidy’s 56-65 (86.2%). She and Kat (28-32, 87.5%) are the only Horns hitting over 70 % from the FT line. Kat is averaging 7.7 rpg in league play with both Kristen (5.6 rpg) and Ashleigh (5.1 rpg) over 5 rpg. Ashleigh’s 45 assists leads four Horns with a minimum of 20 assists in 14 league games. Ashley leads with 39 blocks while Kristen has 12. Three Horns have 20+ steals: Ashleigh (23); Chassidy (21) and Yvonne (21).

All 11 players on the roster have played in at least 2 Big 12 games. Seven are averaging at least 12 minutes a game with four over 30 minutes a game. Chassidy, Kat and Ashleigh have started every Big 12 game. Yvonne, Kristen, Ashley, and Chelsea have split the other starts with Yvonne and Ashley starting the most recent games.Projected starting lineups based on the last game. Texas has had seven players start in Big 12 games. Horns have had three players start all 12 conference games while ISU has two.

Texas Tech

Kat (6-2) Wickett (6-3)
Ashley (6-4) Mallard (6-3)
Yvonne (5-7) Morris (5-9)
Chassidy (5-10) Hyde (5-10)
Ashleigh (5-8) Smalls (5-6) [/pre]

In the last game these two played, Ashley had 14 pts on 6-8 FGs and 2-3 FTs and Kristen had 11 pts on 4-6 FGs and 3-4 FTs. That’s 25 pts from our posts. If they can replicate that, Horns will present a big problem for Tech. Chassidy was on fire from BTA, going 4-4 on her way to 22 pts. Kat had 12 pts despite only hitting 1-4 from BTA. Tech also had four players in double figures although none had more than 13 pts.

Tech could look at the last 2-3 games and conclude that they don’t have to worry about the Texas posts scoring. Or they could look at how much trouble they had scoring inside with Ashley going off for six blocks. Yvonne has stepped up her scoring recently while Kat has been steady and Chassidy has been in a mini slump. For Tech Morris has led the team in scoring 3 times in the past five games. The last game was close with neither team getting much separation. Texas hit 8 FTs and a 3pter in the last 2 minutes to pull out the W.
Texas is going to slow down or stop Mallard, Morris and Wickett. Smalls, although not usually a scorer, has scored big 3s when she has needed to. Tech is to look to keep Chassidy struggling to hit shots. Yvonne’s recent scoring output has to be a concern for Tech as they will need to account for another outside scorer. Will that allow Ashley and Kristen room inside to hit double figures each?

Texas is 6-8. Tech is 7-7 in league play. Big 12 rankings are in parentheses. A tie with other teams is denoted by a (t)

Tech plays a slow down game, only once scoring more than 61 pts in the past five games. While they are as good a 3pt shooting team as Texas, they don’t depend on the 3 as much as Texas. Texas is tops in the league averaging 6.6 3s per game. Thirty percent of Texas’ FG attempts are 3s while Tech only takes a 3 about every five shots (22%). Tech is a better shooting team overall (40.6% to 35.5%) but Texas takes eight more shots a game, resulting in an average of two more FGs made a game. Through 14 Big 12 games, Texas is grabbing five more rebounds than Tech and outrebounded the Lady Raiders by 17 in the first game. Tech will focus on not letting that happen in this game. Where Tech has an advantage is taking the ball away from opponents. They have quick hands and good anticipation, averaging almost 3 steals more than Texas.

Didn’t see anything listed in Bevo’s Bargains for this game.

I think this is senior night for our three seniors: Kat, Kristen and Sarah. Gonna miss those three.

The game won’t be televised. You can get a free online feed from the texassports.com site. Game time is 7 PM this Wednesday. KVET 1300 AM will carry the game with the pregame starting at 6:45PM.

BabHorn, love the set-up! I think we may need to shake things a bit.Maybe ,some double cuts through the lane.If the guards are executing plays for them, add some X-up picks to help free the guards up.Free throw trips to the line would be nice on the recovery help. SURE NEED THIS WIN!

More than just "showing up", they need to play with a sense of URGENCY....

It is pretty much "do or die" from here on out....

Without these next two games, plus a good showing in the Big 12 TNY, I do not think we get to NCAA's....

Hook 'Em....Come on, "you can do it"...

I agree BBV. We need to win the next two as well as have an upset or two in the tourny - BU, TAMU or OU. It is very important that we make it to the semi-finals in the Big 12 tourny to secure a spot for the NCAAs.

40 minutes of defense, finish your shoots - no missed layups and we need three players besides Chassidy to be in double figures. Everybody needs the green light to look for their shot and shoot. We need the points.BE AGRESSIVE!!!

Follwoing seniors to be honored before the game tomorrow night:
players Kristen Nash, Kathleen Nash and Sarah Lancaster, student manager Rebekah Ray and student trainer Allison Martinez.

Thanks for all you done and for how well you have represented this university we all love.

Yes, many thanks to our seniors. Hard to believe this is the last year the Nash sisters will wear burnt orange, but so glad Kristen came back and finished out with Kat. We are very, very lucky to have had them!

It's game time and of course the live feed isn't working appropriately. Any one else having trouble?

Great Team Effort Tonite! AG really did a good job! K.Curry loves the Nash Sisters, that was nice to see in the game notes. There so many players did things well tonite. C.Fussell, AT, Y.Anderson and the Nash Sisters. Wish she would have played her bench more.

great game for the Horns.Chas got her shooting slump over with, Ashley had a double double, and I think a total of four Horns were in double figures.

AG was for SURE a BEAST tonight!!

She burned Tech last game, too....

It was bittersweet to see Nash's go, they will be missed...

Would've been nice if Sarah had made that 3....

OK, Horns, bring it again on Saturday!!

man i love beating texas tech! such a great game last night. and a fun game. i'm glad the seniors got to end on a high note. i kept thinking all day that we were due for a solid, blow-out win to boost our confidence!

great team effort. 4 starters in double figures is always nice to see. and awesome FT shooting! AG has been the most impressive from the line lately, considering how she started the season. and she made it through the entire first half with no fouls - granted she may have gotten away with one or two

keep it up horns. hook 'em!

AG was lucky that the refs were letting them play last night...several fouls on both sides not called...

Makes me wonder if word came down to refs from 'on high' that the past two Texas games were s#&t for reffing and that "less is more"
