Both teams went into Wednesday’s games looking to snap three game losing streaks. Texas faltered at KU, falling 85-61 while OSU won at home over Texas Tech 53-49. That leaves Texas at 3-8 and OSU at 5-6 in the Big 12. OSU comes into Austin at 1-4 in league road games. Texas, at 2-3 at home, will be looking to get back on track after losing their only home game in the last four game losing stretch that included three road games. The teams have split their four games in the last two seasons with each winning at home. OSU won at Stillwater earlier in the season, 70-51. The Cowgirls will be seeking their first win in Austin since 2009. Texas wants to extend their two game home winning streak against OSU.

Tiffany Bias (# 3, 5-6 Soph. G) leads the way for OSU in scoring with an average of 12.5 ppg. Liz Donohoe (# 4, 6-0 Fr. F) adds 11.5 ppg. From the bench, Toni Young (# 15, 6-2 Jr. F) chips in with 10.6 ppg. OSU is making 34.7% of their FGs. Of their top three scorers, only Young is averaging over 40% at 41% (48-117). Bias is hitting at a 33.8% clip (47-139) while Donohoe is at 31.2% (43-138). Jordan Schultz (# 12, 5-10 Fr. G) is the leader in FG % for the Cowgirls at 44.8% (13-29). Lindsey Keller (# 25, 6-2 Jr. C) is second at 43.5% (27-62) while Jenni Bryan (# 11, 5-9 Soph. G/F) is at 40%. OSU is struggling from BTA as a team, connecting on only 28.6% (61-213). Bryan (4-6, 66.7%), Schultz (10-25, 40.0%) and Keller (9-28, 32.1%) are all above 30% from BTA. Kendra Suttles (# 31, 6-1 Soph. C) also has hit 31.3% (5-16) of her 3s but has not played in the last four games due to an illness. The three OSU players with the most 3s attempted all have %s in the low 20s: Bias (11-48, 22.9%), Donohoe (14-56, 25.0%) and Taylor Schippers (#1, 5-8 Fr. G; 7-31, 22.6%). The Cowgirls are shooting well from the FT line, with two players making 80+% and two 70+% while Schippers is 4-4. Bias has made and attempted the most FTs for OSU at 32-45 (71.1%). Keller at 75.0% (18-24) is the other Cowgirl at in the 70s. Donohoe (26-29, 89.7%) and Suttles (13-16, 81.3%) rank one and two respectively in FT percentage.

Donohoe is the leading rebounder at 7.9 rpg while Toni Young (# 15, 6-2 Jr. F), usually coming in off the bench, adds 7.2 rpg. Keller, at 6.9 rpg, rounds the Cowgirls’ top rebounding trio. Those three are all in the top 10 in rebounding during league games. Bias has 55 assists to lead OSU while Donohoe is second with 20. McIntyre’s 13 blocks tops the team while Young’s 9 ranks second. Bias’ 36 steals leads three others with double digit steals—Keller (13), Donohoe (12) and Young (10).

All 12 players on the roster have seen action in league games. Bias and Donohoe have started all 11 Big 12 games. Seven others have started at least 3 league games. Suttles has missed four games due to an illness. No word if she will be available to play tonight. With Suttles out, that leaves seven players that are averaging double figures in minutes per game. Bias, Donohoe, McIntyre, Keller and Schultz started the last game. Keller has started the last eight. Bias (36.3 mpg) and Donohoe (35.2 mpg) play with little relief.

Horns are led by Chassidy (16.5 ppg), Yvonne (11.3 ppg) and Ashleigh (11.1 ppg). Those three are the ones taking the shots from the field for the Horns. Chassidy is hitting 39% from the field (62-159). Yvonne is at 40.9% (47-115) while Ashleigh is at 33.1% (43-130). Nneka’s 44.7% (21-47) leads the team. Chassidy is the best 3pt shooter, making 24-61 (39.3%). If she has recovered sufficiently from an ankle injury, she adds 9-26 from BTA (34.6%). Both Yvonne and Ashleigh are struggling from BTA, hitting 22.2% (8-36) and 29.7% (11-37), respectively. Chassidy (33-38, 86.8%), Yvonne (22-33, 66.7%) and Ashleigh (25-38, 65.8%) are the three Horns that have stepped up to the FT line at least 30 times. Chelsea (17-24, 70.8%) is the other Horn besides Chassidy that is hitting at least 70% of their FTs.Nneka is the leading rebounder for the Horns in conference play, averaging 6 rpg. Chassidy is second at 5.3 rpg while Ashley adds 5.1 rpg. A trio of Longhorns are in double figures in assists, Yvonne (65), Ashleigh (35) and Chassidy (11). Yvonne is second in the with an average of 5.9 assists per game. Ashley is the leader in blocks with 24 while Nneka is second with 9. Four Horns are in double figures in steals with two having stolen over 20: Yvonne (25) and Ashleigh (23). Chassidy (18) and Ashley (11) rank third and fourth in that category.

Six Horns have played in all 11 conference games. Cokie has played in all nine games she has been available to play in. Tiffany should be available to play in this game. This will be one week that Chelsea has missed. She could be back or might miss another week as she recovers from her ankle injury. Our three guards have been playing iron women minutes, with all averaging over 32 minutes per game due to injuries to the other guards. Eight Horns have started in the 11 league games. Yvonne and Ashleigh have started all 11 games while Chassidy and Ashley have ten starts. Nneka has started 2 of the last three games while Anne Marie has started in the last two games.

Projected starting lineups are based on the last game. Starting lineup has changed three times in the last three games for Texas. Either Nneka or Ashley could start this game. Missing from the lineup the last time these two met: Suttles and Schippers for OSU and Cokie and Chelsea for Texas. Anne Marie has started the last two games for Texas while Keller has settled in for the last eight for OSU. Schultz started in the last game against Tech for OSU.

Texas OSU

Ashley (6-4) McIntyre (6-6)
Anne Marie (6-3) Keller (6-2)
Yvonne (5-7) Bias (5-6)
Ashleigh (5-8) Schultz (5-10)
Chassidy (5-10) Donohoe (6-0) [/pre]

Even shooting 37% from the field, OSU had four players in double figures in the last game played by these two. Suttles, who led the way with 15, has not played in the last four games for OSU due to illness. Schultz has scored in double figures in the last two games while Keller has pitched in with double digits rebounds in those games. Bias will be the number one concern for the Horns to stop as she is able to score and distribute equally well. Donohoe will be another big challenge, both in scoring and rebounding. With the Horns’ getting most of their scoring from their guards, OSU will be pressuring to keep them from getting open looks. The focus of their defensive effort should Chassidy. Anne Marie and Nneka have combined for double digit scoring and rebounding for Texas the last two games. With three of the top ten rebounders in the league, OSU will present a challenge to the Texas posts as the two teams strive to control the boards. Anne Marie and Nneka have averaged 6 and 7 rebounds a game in the last two games. Along with Chassidy, they will be the primary players battling OSU on the boards.

OSU is one of the few teams shooting worse from the field and BTA than Texas. The Cowgirls didn’t shoot any better in the first game between the two but Texas shot an ice cold 23% from the field and 16% from BTA. Horns are shooting much better at home than on the road. Horns take more shots inside the arc while OSU is taking almost 5 more 3s a game than the Horns. This will a game that is going to feature a lot of shots. It may not be pretty but there will be a lot of up and down the court going on. If the game turns on FTs, OSU has an edge as they make over 70% of their FTs while Texas is making 2/3 of them. Horns, except for the first league game, have taken much better care of the ball at home. Horns will continue to look to score inside as this can open up the court for easier outside shots by the guards. The Texas posts will need to slow down a beat to finish looks inside. This should be physical game, especially inside the paint. Rebounding will be key for both teams. OSU looks to have the edge here but Anne Marie and Nneka have done well hitting the boards the last two games.

very good win for the Horns. That starting lineup looks pretty strong. It was good to see pts coming from several players, at least three in double figures, maybe four. Even better was the strong defense on Bias and Donohoe.

It's times like this when as fans you have to dig down deep and help to will the team to some wins. Beating them up when they (coach and players) are down serves no purpose.

So I drove three hours to make the game and have no regrets. Still love this team and this coach. Here's to more wins! Hook 'Em
