After losing the first two league games, Texas has alternated wins and losses in the next four games. Wednesday night, they will look to grab a win after losing to OU 73-67 in Norman. Horns will be playing Missouri who comes into Austin at 0-6. The Tigers dropped a close game to OSU 62-58 at home. They have come close several times to winning in the Big 12, losing to Tech 69-63, and 72-63 to Kansas. Those close games have come at home while they have had trouble on the road. Both will be looking to start the last 2/3 of the conference games on a positive note.
Missouri has two players averaging double figures in scoring in league play: BreAnna Brock (#22, 6-2 Sr. F) is averaging 14.2 ppg and Christine Flores (#50, 6-3 Sr. F) is averaging 13.0 ppg. Sydney Crafton (#21, 5-10 Jr. G) adds 8 ppg. As would be expected, Brock and Flores are among the top Tigers in FG percentage: Brock is at 43.8% (28-64) while Flores is at 42.6% (26-61). Crafton is hitting 42.5% of her shots (17-40) while Kyley Simmons (#15, 5-7 Fr. G) is another over 40% from the field at 42.9% (9-21). Ten players have attempted at least one trey in conference play. Five are the main threats, though. Simmons (7-17, 41.2%), Brock (5-13, 38.5%) and Flores (8-21, 38.1%) are the best from BTA. Morgan Eye (#30, 5-9 Fr. G; 6-28, 21.4%) and Liene Priede (#32, 5-10 Jr. G; 4-17, 23.5%) are others that have attempted at least 10 3s in conference games. Look for Brock and Flores to also shine from the FT line as they have the top percentages from the FT line at 82.8% (24-29) and 81.8% (18-22), respectively. There are two Tigers who have hit 3 of 3 and 2 of 2 from the FT line. Either Brock or Flores has led Missouri in scoring in the six Big 12 games.
In their last game against OSU, the Tigers hit on 11-30 3s (36.7%). Flores hit 4 of 6 from BTA. Eye was 3 of 6 while Priede hit on 2-4.
Flores is second in career blocks for Missouri with 174. She trails Mary Bruggestrass who is the career leader with 177 blocks. She is first with 12 blocks this season for Missouri. Brock is second with 7. Brock (7.0 rpg), Crafton (5.3 rpg) and Flores (5.2 rpg) rank one, two and three in rebounding. Simmons leads Missouri in assists with an average of 3.5 (21 total) while Flores is second at 2.7 (16 total). Crafton has 8 steals to top Missouri. Simmons and Brock have five each.
Twelve Tigers have played in league games. Seven have played in all six games to date. Those seven are averaging at least 14 mpg with three averaging over 30 mpg. Two others have played in five games. In tight games, Missouri relies on those seven plus one or two others. In blowouts, they play everyone at the end of the game. Brock, Flores, Simmons and Crafton have started all six Big 12 games. Bailey Gee (#2, 5-11 Sr. G) has started the last three conference games after Priede started the first three Big 12 games. Bree Fowler (#3, 5-9 Fr. G) and Liz Smith (#45, 6-1 Sr. C) have played in five league games.
Chassidy (15.3 ppg) and Ashleigh (10.7 ppg) lead the Horns in scoring. Yvonne is averaging 9.0 ppg while three others are around 7 ppg: Cokie (7.8 ppg), Ashley (7.7 ppg) and Chelsea (7.0 ppg). Chassidy (31-90, 34.4%) and Ashleigh (23-72, 31.9%) have made and taken the most FGs for the Horns. Yvonne (18-48, 37.5%) and Ashley (20-48, 41.7%) rank third in number of FGs attempted. Including Chelsea and Tiffany, our guards are 84-248. That comes out to 60% of made FGs and 64.6% of FGs attempted from our guards. Chassidy is our primary 3pt threat, hitting 11 of 33 (33.3%). Chelsea has the best percentage from BTA at 40.0% (8-20). Ashleigh (4-19, 21.1%) and Yvonne (3-14, 21.4%) are the other Horns that have over 10 3pt attempts. Chassidy and Yvonne each has gone to the FT line 22 times. Chassidy has hit 19 for 86.4% while Yvonne has connected on 15 (68.2%). Ashleigh is the only other Horn with at least 20 FT attempts, going 14-20 (70.0%).
Three Horns are averaging 6 or more rebounds per game. Ashley leads the trio at 6.8 rpg. Cokie (6.3 rpg) and Nneka (6.2 rpg) are second and third. Chassidy is fourth at 5.7 rpg. Yvonne has 41 assists to lead the team. Ashleigh with 15 is the only other Horn that has reached double digits in assists. Ashley has 14 blocks while Anne Marie is second with five. Three have double figures in steals, led by Yvonne’s 13. Ashleigh has 12 and Ashley 10. Chassidy is fourth with nine.Of the 11 Horns that have played in league games, seven have seen action in all six. Those seven are averaging at least 13 minutes per game. Kayla has been in five games and averages 6.4 mpg. Cokie missed two games with a calf injury before returning in the last game. She has played in four games with an average of 21.8 mpg. Our starting backcourt is all averaging over 30 minutes per game: Chassidy (34.0 mpg), Ashleigh (31.7 mpg) and Yvonne (31.3 mpg). With Cokie able to play, our rotation has been primarily four posts and four guards: Ashley, Cokie, Nneka and Anne Marie at the post and Yvonne, Chassidy, Ashleigh and Chelsea in the backcourt. Also available are forwards Ronisha and Kayla and guard Tiffany.
Starting lineups are based on the last game. For Texas, Cokie could replace Nneka in the starting lineup although that would depend on how much she has recovered from her calf injury. A shakeup in the starting lineup is also possible to try to get the Horns off to a good start on offense. Missouri has started the same starting lineup for the past three games.

Texas Missouri
Ashley (6-4) Flores (6-3)
Nneka (6-1) Brock (6-2)
Yvonne (5-7) Simmons (5-7)
Ashleigh (5-8) Crafton (5-10)
Chassidy (5-10) Gee (5-11) [/pre]
Like a lot of Big 12 posts, Flores is capable of hitting the 3. Whichever of the Texas posts is guarding her will need to remember that. She hit 4 of 6 against OSU when they were slow to cover her outside. Brock can also hit from BTA. When both are on the floor for Missouri, the Tigers have two players that require their defenders to play them at the 3pt line. Missouri will be looking to slow down or stop the Horns’ inside game. The guards for Texas will receive even more attention as the Tigers want to have them take contested shots. Keeping the guards from making an easy entry pass inside will be big for both teams.

Missouri has had trouble stopping teams on the road. Of course, their three road games have been Baylor, KSU and A&M, not easy teams to keep from scoring, especially on their home court. Both Missouri and Texas are having trouble getting the ball into the hoop with both shooting less than 38% from the field. Missouri has an advantage from BTA as they are making a decent 36.8% from BTA compared to Texas’ 29.5%. They also make three more 3s on five more attempts. Horns will need to guard the 3pt line. With Missouri’s posts able to shoot the 3, a big part of that defensive effort will fall on the Texas posts as well. While Texas gets most of their scoring from their backcourt, they do make a concerted effort to get the posts involved. Missouri will look to stop or make it difficult to get the Texas posts involved. A big part of Texas’ offense is getting to the FT line. When they can convert from there, Horns have an easier time scoring. Missouri doesn’t get to the FT line as much but do a much better job of converting, making almost 80% as a team. Neither team has much of an advantage in outrebounding their opponents. Where Texas could find an advantage in forcing TOs. Missouri is a minus ten in the TO category. A big part of that is steals, where Texas has about a 2 to 1 advantage.
