Baseball game has started and Thornhill sets Call down in order.
Payton leads off with a single. Etier grounds to short and its booted for an error. Runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs. Wies singles and Payton scores. Texas up 1-0.
Thornhill with another perfect inning and that hitting machine Weis gets a clutch two out single to score another run.
Horns now lead 4-0 after 2 complete.
Thornhill is still mowing them down and Texas bats now blowing the game open against Cal's ace. A SF and then a two out single and double send the ace to the showers.
Texas now leads 8-0 in the bottom of the third still batting.
OSU leads Baylor behind their big lefty ace Heany 4-1 in the bottom of the fifth.
Aggy scores 2 runs after 2 outs and nobody on to take the lead on Mizzou 6-5 in the bottom of the sixth. Pitching change as Mizzou starter finally knocked out. Could really use a Mizzou win here.
Thornhill finally gives up a couple of runs and in the bottom of the fifth it's now 10-2 Horns.
Now that Thornhill has qualified for the win it's time to get him out and rest him. I wish Bellows and Discharry would come in and mop up with a 8 run lead. But Curtis and Peters are up in the pen.
I don't understand it, if you can't bring in pitchers that are on your travel squad with a 8 run lead and probably going to score more runs, when can you? Need to rest some arms.
Stell leads off with a double and looks like he came up lame.
He's staying in though, this kid looks like a player.
Baylor has knocked out Heany and tied their game at 4 in the bottom of the sixth.
Texas gets those two runs back and lead 12-2 after 5 complete.
Thornhill still in the game. I don't understand that. Ten run lead and he has the win, why not rest him and pitch guys that need to see some action namely Discharry and Bellows.
Thornhill keeps staying in and gives up a run in the sixth, then for the first time all game Texas does not score. Thornhill retires them again in the 7th. It's 12-3 Texas at stretch time.
Wonder what Discharry and Bellows are thinking about now?
Thornhill finally done after 7 innings and Curtis comes in and an out later Curtis comes in. Still no Bellows or Discharry with a 12-3 lead. I am baffled, why use the same arms with two more games in this series?
Mizzou gives away the game to Aggy giving up two runs in the bottom of the 8th without giving up a hit. Three walks, a HPB, and an error does the trick.
Aggy wins 8-6. Meanwhile Baylor has taken a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the 8th.
Walsh lines a homer to dead right field for a run in the bottom of the 8th. To the ninth leading 13-3.
Baylor plates 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th and win 7-4. Wouldn't be surprised if the Bears now sweep that series now that they are by Heaney. They are still undefeated in conference play at 7-0.
Also Ole Miss shuts out #1 ranked Florida in Oxford tonight 3-0.
Curtis completes the game and Horns win 13-3. At least Milner and Knebel didn't throw. Just seems that pitchers you need to develop and count on in the future needed to pitch in a game like this. Kind of feel bad for Discharry and Bellows not getting in this game.
Still a good win against a good team. Bats continue to get better and more consistant. On to tomorrow.
