Horns trail 2-0 in top of fifth. The Tech pitcher came in with an ERA of 4.54 and the mighty Texas bats have managed a grand total of no hits to this point.
I am having a hard time getting excited about this years baseball team, maybe it is only me? But they have no offense and I like offense. Good solid pitching and defense are important also but can anyone hit on this team? Texas batters make every pitcher look better than he is. Top of the 6th, Tech 2 runs on 7 hits, Horns 0 runs on 2 hits. Raiders have 2 on with 1 out.
Montalbano steals second but typical of Texas in clutch spots Shepherd strikes out to end inning.
Watching this offense and wondering why it keeps struggling is like poking yourself in the eye with a stick repeatedly and wondering why it keeps hurting.
This offense makes every opposing pitcher look like a future MLB starter.
I agree with that. I have followed every Texas game this year and the offense is inconsistent and weak, looking at Cole's stats he has not pitched that bad, he has not had any run support this year.
Carrillo with a quick two out in top of seventh and he is replaced by Milner (I guess to save him for tomorrow). Milner quickly records the third out, stretch time and lets hope Horns find some offense these last three innings. They have managed two whole hits in the last two innings.
Come on bats wake the hell up and stop forcing your pitchers to be perfect every dang game.
Texas has one of if not the best pitching staff in the country but an offense that is so pedestrian it is painful.
Cole Green has been a hard luck starter all year. He deserves to get one free kick to the groin of every batter on the team for every win this anemic offense has cost him when he gave the team a quality start and they gave him no run support.
8th inning. Tech 2 runs on 7 hits. Texas no runs on 2 stinking singles. I think by next year something needs to change to improve Texas batting. Last year 279, this year 250 or 260.
Now in bottom of 8th. Still trailing 2-0. Kephart pinch hittting for Felts who was right at Mendoza line hitting .200. Augie looking to kick start something here.
