Texas v. South Alabama

What is worse losing to BYU in football or South Alabama in basketball? The first half was painful to watch.

You have to give them credit for fighting back from a large deficit and pulling out the win. They really shouldn't let it get that bad though.

Kind of a fun team to watch, but they still have the Texas trademark of missing way too many shots around the basket.

That's a young team, showing more effort then last year's team.I will take that any day.I see some good thing's out of this team.

What happened? Were their heads swollen from that three point thumping of Mercer? Down by 14 at the half to South Alabama but came back to win by 7. Texas scored 53 points in the second half!

South Alabama already knew (one game into the season) that all it would take to get us off a rhythm was to mess with our perimeter defense. Freshmen guards are notoriously bad at rotation, particularly when you consider that they're trained in AAU to allow guys to jack up threes due to low shooting percentages and recruiting highlight reels. As good as Taylor has been, they took advantage of him, Holland, and Yancy with the first half outside shooting.

Jonathan Holmes is quickly making a name for himself as a big guy an opponent can't **** with. If he keeps up the pace and doesn't get hurt, he'll be a high-priority guy on NBA radars come June. It's tough to skip on a guy who plays decent D and can shoot outside.

Felix must have been watching McClellan too much last year. Shooting at or under 40 percent is not going to cut it, especially if he's not the main PG any longer. I love some of his big shots, but he wouldn't have needed big shots if he hit easier ones earlier.

If Ridley can average 9 and 9 with a couple blocks for the year, I'll be super content.
