Early start time today. Horns leave bases loaded and fail to score in top of first.

SHSU with a couple of hits and a Hinojosa error jump on top 1-0 and have two on with no outs in bottom of first.

With runners at first and second, Schiraldi on mound for Texas gets K for first out. Walk loads the bases. On 34th pitch of inning Schiraldi gets second K. Walk forces in second run for bearcats who now lead 2-0 with bases still loaded.

Grounder to Hinojosa and long throw is in time. One inning in books and horns trail 2-0.

Horns get two out hit from Shaw, Marlow works a five pitch walk, Payton flies out to left center and Texas strands two more, that is five LOB through two innings.

SHSU with hit in bottom of second but no other damage. 2-0 bearcats through two full.

Horns get first two on in top of third including bunt for base hit, but long fly out to left and lead runner is thrown out trying to tag up which kills any chance for big inning. Walk puts runners at first and second only further highlighting the base running error. Fly out to center ends threat. That is seven LOB . Horns still trail 2-0 through two and half innings.

Bottom five and Horns get two outs at plate to hold the bearcat lead to two. The first on grounder to second and second on hit to left. Horns need some runs.

Those two defensive plays help with some of sting of the three errors committed by horns through five.

Ok, I am back and find Texas trailing 2-0 in the top of the seventh with runners on the corners and one out.

Hinojosa bunts maybe trying for a hit or maybe the safety squeeze, which is kind of an odd place for it trailing this late.

Anyway it scores a run and makes 2-1 Sam Houston.

Clemens looks to tie the game and get his first rbi of the year.

He does single to center and drives home the tying run.

Johnson moved up to the five hole today K's swinging to end the inning.

Stretch time in the Horn's final game in the Houston College Classic and it's a new game tied at 2-2.

Cooper pitching for Texas in the bottom of the seventh faces Farney for Sam to lead off.

He grounds out to second for one away.

Atwood bats now and flies out to right field.

O'Hearn up K's and Sam Houston is down in order.

Seven innnings gone and we are tied at 2-2.

Jacob Felts has moved into the DH slot today for a slumping Barrera and he leads off the Texas eitghth.

He grounds one sharply to third that handcuffs the third baseman who stumbles but gets up and fires wildly to first for an errror that puts Felts at second.

Montalbano wants to move Felts to third, but pops up the bunt and it's caught by the catcher for a big first out without moving the base runner over.

McGuire up now and somebody needs a clutch hit now to drive this run home. The bottom of this order has got to start producing some if Texas is to be successful over the long run
this season.

Andy does deliver the hit, but to left and Felts has to hold at third and that where the bad bunt hurts right now.

Shaw is batting now with a chance to give Texas it's first lead.
He has to put the ball in play. He does as a fly ball to medium center is deep enough for the SF.

Texas takes the lead 3-2 with two down now.

The top of the order is up and B. Marlow takes one off the shoulder for a HBP to reach first.

Payton up now as the coach comes to the mound and makes a change. The one flaw that Sam Houston has show is in the bullpen. Till today they just outscored people.

Austin Ray a lefty comes in to face Payton who looks to keep the inning going and pad the lead.

Mark steps into the left handed batter's box and digs in.
Two on and two for Payton and a wild pitch moves the runners up and it's a big chance now to really up the advantage for Texas.

It won't be Payton though as with the open base at first they now intentionally walk him.

Hinojosa up with the bases loaded will not face Ray as the coach wants a righty to face him.

The new pitcher is Ryan Brinley from Georgetown in a big spot for both clubs.

C.J. tries to deliver a big blow and does line one to center, but right at the center fielder to retire the side and leave them loaded.

Texas with the help of an error does take the lead and to the bottom of the eighth our new score reads Texas 3-2 over Sam Houston.

Morgan Cooper back out on the hill facing the catcher Azar leading off for Sam.

He K's swinging for the first out.

Simerly from the right side bats now and pops one up straight behind the plate and Montabano makes the catch for two away.

Carter another righty hits one deep to left center over Payton and off the wall for a stand up triple.

Burgess up now trying to tie the game with a runner on third and two away.

He grounds to McGuire and his throw is low into the dirt, but is dug out nicely by Clemens at first to retire and the side and keep Texas in the lead.

A nice scoop at first keeps the score Texas 3-2 over Sam after eight complete.

Clemens leads off after the nice play for Texas in the ninth and flies to shallow left for out one.

Johnson pops up to second for out two.

Two pitches for two outs has Augie slowing the inning down by calling for a chat with Felts.

He bloops one to center that lands softly for a hit. He now leaves the game for a pinch runner Carter.

Montalbano up hits one off the wall in left and the nice rebound off the wall to the left fielder prevents Carter from scoring.

McGuire up with two in scoring postition and two outs and a chance to give the Horns some insurance before Sam bats.

Instead he grounds out to short and Texas once more will have to sweat out a ninth inning for their third conesutive one run win.

Bottom of the ninth comes and Texas leads 3-2.

Cooper remains in the game to pitch the ninth.

He has pitched well and why change things.

Macwilliams leads off for Sam and a routine ground ball to second is out one.

Pearce up with one away finds the open hole on the left side for a single as Texas was tight at the corners on defense.

An overhand curve is swung and missed for a K by Plucheck for the second out.

It brings Atwood with 3 hits today up and a wild pitch puts the runner in scoring position.

Atwood swings ands lofts a fly ball to left and that's it.

Texas wins 3-2 for indeed their third one run decision in the Houston College Classic.

So I guess Texas wins this thing if there any kind of trophy or whatever involved.

The main thing is it's another big win over a good team.

Thanks for the help today FW as these odd timed games are hard on all of us.

We got a team victory on the board and on the field today.

This team is starting to look pretty salty. Last year we lose at least 2 of this type of games ... clutch hitting that was lacking last year
