A leadoff walk to Kephart followed by a double from Shepherd and a groundout by Etier plates run number seven. Shepherd on third with one down in bottom of fifth.
Cole Green started and has pitched 5 innings of 3 hit ball with 4K's.
Fielding error by third baseman pits runners on corners but double play ends inning with Horns up 7-0. Lets hope that this weekend our offense found its identity, coming back from 4 down Friday and then back to back good outings yesterday and today. Up to this weekend the pitchers had to be perfect, finally the offense has come through.
He has definitely settled in and barring a collapse will even his record at 2-2 as we head into the heart of the Big XII schedule. You have to like the pitching line up Texas can run out there with Jungmann, Milner, Green and Stafford as starters and McKirahan, Carillo et al as relieves then with the emergence of Knebel as the closer it really sets up well. Any kind of offense and this team has real Omaha potential.
Two out rally for Horns in bottom of seventh plated two more runs. Cole got his 7th K in top of 8 and Horns now batting in bottom of inning leading 9-1.
I know Mizzou is near the Big XII cellar this year, but that was three games with 5 runs or more tallied, two games in a row with four hits in the first inning, a fair number of clutch hits, and Cole Green could be rounding into form.
This team could be really good if these pieces fall into place.
Have to see if it continues against some stronger teams in the near future, but for now...
