Texas v. Michigan State

Texas up by 15 with about 13 minutes in the half. Tristan Thompson has about 17 and we're starting to hit some 3s.

The Spartans have not lost a nonconference game at home since 2003.

Very nice game so far. Should have made the drive from Chicagoland. Hopefully we can keep this up. Still missing a ton of free throws this year.

Tristan looks like a sprinter out there compared to Pittman the last 4 years. And J'Covan is Mr. Bad Decision/Turnover this season.

Texas cooled off just a bit, but a combination of some tough Longhorn D and some sloppy Spartan offense is keeping this out of reach for Michigan State.

Jay Bilas commented something to the effect of he can't recall the last time a team overpowering an Izzo team like this on their court.

As I said in another thread, we are a bit underrated and msu was way overrated. One of our losses was bad but losing by 2 to a very good Pitt team was not bad at all.

Incredible to win both of these two on the road and dominating this evening in the second half. I really thought the Horns would lose both and was happy to have the bird in the hand from Saturday, this win tonight is huge for March.

Of course last year at this point Texas had the same two game stretch against the same two teams and looked like world beaters. Hopefully the key difference will be that the fools gold those wins last year became because the team started to feel entitled not be repeated in the same fashion this year.

Real Nice win, we made Sparty look really bad, thats how I chose to look at it.

I don't want to take anything away from tonight's win--beating the Spartans is always a big deal, and breaking their 52-game non-conference home winning streak is certainly cause for celebration--but that's the worst I've seen MSU perform in several years.

As others have noted, it'll be interesting to see how both teams respond. It's a given that MSU will improve as the season progresses--it has too much experience and too much talent not to--but what of our 'Horns? Will they continue to grow, or will they flat-line and/or implode when conference play comes around?

Regardless what the future holds, great effort and great win tonight! That was domination from start to finish.

One reason, Gem, you think that MSU looked bad was because of the Texas Defense. Basketball starts with good defense and Texas is playing a very tough Man D. Offensive opportunities occur as a result of good defense. Texas' talent and chemistry are really clicking, but the toughness they're showing on the defensive end, imho, is what is creating their advantage.

Hook'em!!!

Great win. MSU cut it within 1 at half and then took the lead early in the second (1 pt if I recall), then the Horns took over and never looked back.

I thought John Saunders was going to cry announcing that Texas won during the Boise St. vs. Utah "in game update"...it pained him greatly to note that Texas won over Sparty.

I dont believe we will see a nosedive from this team. I luv the energy, effort, chemistry, hustle and defense out of this team. They have sum young players, but they are shining and growing at the same time.Good job tonite on their floor, that saids a lot about this team. Hookem'

Nice win by Texas, i give them credit but Michigan State is not the 12th best team in the country, they are overrated.
