Texas = 'They Are Who We Thought They Were.'

Texas is who we thought they were.

This team is every bit as talented as I expected pre-season, and they are falling into place at exactly the right time. I dare someone to draw us in Regionals. I don't even recognize them. Completely different team than the one we saw weeks back.

Funny quote from post game last night ...

My buddy to Jordan - "Nice catch Jordan."

Jordan to buddy - "Which one ?"

You could feel the confidence as they got on the bus. Percentages are against us for the sweep today, but we've already done the damage.

One of the all-time great meltdowns after a game, along with this one.

Which just happens to coincide with my feelings about the Huskers after those two drubbings the last two days. Playoffs? I just hope we can win today!

me and some friends drove out there and watched the game. I had never been to olson field to watch a game but we had a good time.( lots of beer) a sweep of the aggies would be great. i have heard htat we might be going to athens for the reginal. That want be easy.

There's a kickball team in the Austin Sports and Social league called "We Are Who You Thought We Were." Awesome.

We ain't going to Athens. We'll be at Disch-Falk for the Regional and then will be the holy terror to whoever draws the short straw on the other side of the Super.

"We are the nightmare you thought we were going to be at the beginning of the season." Bring it.

Lets go to Tallahasse

I must say, I'm still not sold on this team. If they were a team that's struggled but were coming off consecutive trips to Omaha, then I'd be jacked, but this team hasn't succeeded on that level. I'm thrilled with the sweep of A&M, but I'm not ready to proclaim them a CWS team until they do it.

This is an interesting Texas team for sure. I don't think anyone would be shocked if they went 2 and Q in the regionals. However, I wouldn't be completely shocked if this team made it to another CWS. We have been playing a lot better the past 2-3 weeks. No doubt about it. The question is whether this team has truly turned the corner. No one knows the answer to that question at the moment. However, there is certainly hope.

Not to mention that UCI was a ****** draw and I was screaming that from the rooftops as soon as it happened.

We may have been a Top 8 team last year but we drew another Top 8 team in our regional. And they were objectively Top 10 before the regional.

Yeah, UC Irvine should never have been in the Texas regional to begin with. There were also injuries.

But I think the mentality of this team is different. They knew from the start that it was not going to be easy. They struggled through their growing pains, and they've come together when they needed it most. That says a lot about the postseason.

It's all about the draw. Draw some ACC or SEC school and chances are you'll advance. Draw a school from Texas westward and chances are you'll be sitting home early.

I don't see any way we host.

One thing working against us is that they announce the host sites before the conference tournaments have concluded, meaning that they'll be decided on Saturday afternoon.

Here are 12 locks to host: UNC, Miami, FSU, Rice, ASU, Nebraska, Okie State, NC State, Georgia, A&M, Fullerton, and LSU.

I think #13 goes to East Carolina, as part of the NCAA pushing mid-major programs.

There will be at least one 1-seed (Coastal Carolina?) that doesn't submit a host bid, and I think the NCAA will give that spot (#14) to Michigan as part of its affirmative action, support-the-north program.

Stanford closes at Washington next weekend, and anything other than an extremely unlikely Husky sweep gives the Trees the #2 spot in the Pac 10 and host spot #15.

And I still haven't even mentioned Georgia Tech and Florida, two teams that are in the RPI top 10. Those two, along with South Carolina (who could "host" Coastal's regional), will be given more consideration than us, IMO.

I don't think the Saturday selection will affect whether we receive a regional or not. Winning the first two games will be huge, as will our financial package and our upgraded facilities.

We'll see ... from the things I've read today it seems to be your opinion vs the opinion of Moreland, Kendall Rogers, Bohls, Augie, etc.

If we end up winning early Sat, and cementing our place in the Big XII Final, I would be shocked to not host.

OK, for us to host, a lot of things are going to have to go favorably and we're going to have to get some love from the selection committee. Here's the selection committee:

Larry Templeton, Mississippi State University, chair
Michael Cross, Princeton University
John D’Argenio, Siena College
Rick Dickson, Tulane University
Dave Heeke, Central Michigan University
Pat Murphy, Arizona State University
Brian Quinn, California State University, Fullerton
Bob Steitz, Villanova University
Dee Todd, North Carolina A&T State University
Tim Weiser, Kansas State University

Do you honestly think we're going to catch any favors from that bunch?
