Some say one of the origins of suffering is craving; and that by taking the right path in life, one can escape suffering. I think that’s true, but in volleyball, suffering may also be caused by coming to Gregory, where you are highly likely to get a whupping. And In Texas Tech’s case, the path to escape suffering is Highway 84 back to Lubbock.

Tech had an interesting game plan, which was to put their best player on Rachael. Result? Amber went nuts and got more K’s than Cat Osterman does in a shut-out. Amber, Jen and Sha’Dare all hit 500 hundred or above while raining volleyballs on Tech from every which way. Rachael still got her licks in, too, like that ball she buried on the 4 foot line in the 1st set. Workmen are gonna have to come dig that ball out on Monday.

3,100+ fans were treated to some great displays of athleticism and a nice win. And for an extra treat, there was the dude who danced the cheerleader dance during the break; that was sooo funny.

That was all good news. The bad news was Hannah-in-a-boot! I didn’t see what happened. She was dressed out to play. Maybe she re-tweaked it during warm-ups? If this stuff continues, we’re gonna have to build an infirmary wing off of Gregory. Let’s hope it isn’t too bad.

Meanwhile, we’re blessed to have two setters as talented as Michelle and Hannah. Michelle did all the setting in 2008, had 5 Big XII Rookie of the Week awards, and QB’ed the team to the NCAA semi-finals. She’s got elite skills and can keep our hitters well-supplied. No worries there.

Looking ahead we got Kansas and K-State away and home. Volleyball fans in Kansas may want to think about getting ready for some suffering.
