Texas Tech-UT Thanksgiving game to air on Fox

News came out Thursday that the ESPN family of networks had picked up the Mississippi-Mississippi State game and set it to Thanksgiving night.

With the Texas Tech at Texas game already set for Thanksgiving Day by the Big 12 Conference without any TV commitments, fears arose in the Red Raider fan base that the game would be placed on the Longhorn Network. Follow the link for the rest of the story:

Or maybe ESPN is playing hard ball and just the threat of the game on the Longhorn Network will move some of the Dish and or Cable providers to take on the LHN, hmmmmmm interesting play by ESPN.......

Or maybe ESPN had no choice in the matter at all. Fox and ESPN share rights on Big 12 games as of the the last contract.

Fox had first priority on Thanksgiving Day games for 2013 and chose Tech vs. UT. So ESPN went out and got another game for Thanksgiving.

I think people need to realize that the game's on Fox Sports 1, not the nationally-televised Fox network. The NewsCorp family is ditching the SPEED channel and replacing it with FS1 to be their national competitor to the ESPN family. It's going to be added to most cable packages soon.

That said, you're going to have a bunch of angry yokels trying to find the game on Thanksgiving. Channel 583 isn't exactly one of the easy numbers to find.
